Took it out last night for a bit of driving. I'm very happy Roth how the engine feels. The turbo spools a little faster. It feels very close to how my 11.5:1 engine off boost. Looking at my maf voltage it looks like its flowing the same amount of air at 13-14psi as the other engine flowed at 19. I can tell that it is pulling harder through the rpms as fourth gear seems to not really lug the engine much.

So far so great and I'm at my lowest boost setting.

This could be a game changer Sid. Nice work!

Thanks Shawn, I don't know about it being a game changer, but it could be an affordable solution to be able to have larger displacement.

The affordable component could be very significant.

Sid, remember to keep the boost under 25 psi during the break in...

Nice workmanship...you are doing really neat things with these engines. Did you find a source for the mains that was cost effective?

Unfortunately no, I ordered them directly through Porsche. Also,Thank you

Now onto how much I am loving this thing. The more I drive it the faster it gets. I've got about 250 miles on it now. It is as fast as the old engine at high boost, I'm sure of it!! The maf voltage at 15psi is now at 4.35 volts. That is about what it was at 22 psi on the stock shortblock. It rpms very nice as well. I had only ran it up to around 5800 but then I let another lister drive it and, well let's just say he got a little excited. So, wth, I just started running it harder. Something about this combo is making good power. The head is a slightly worked stock piece. It must be the light internals and added cubes.

I really love it!!! I am ready to take it to the strip right nowat this boost level. I bet it gets more mph than the last setup did. I can honestly say that I don't feel the need to turn up the boost. I have went so far as to unplug my boost controller so it just runs off spring pressure.

I literally drove it for 2hrs straight tonight making 2 gear pulls repeatedly and once I got home I loosened the coolant cap and for only 10 seconds it released a small amount of pressure and I was able to completely remove the cap (no kidding,10 seconds)

It has met all my expectations and then some.

I might just go run it this wedsnday, but only if I can pull the pan before then to check it out.

Thanks again to Josh and Dave for all the help

Was the sleeving a necessity for you to be able to use those pistons?

these pistons as they are? yes.

Sleeving was one thing I wanted to do regardless. I don't care for the aluminum cylinder walls really. However, if what youre asking is can it be done without sleeves, yes it can. The pistons would just cost more due to the coatings

About how much did this setup cost you? I would love to see what its like with the 16valve once you get to that point. I really applaude you for doing this and finally having someone think way outside the realm of normality. (Pardon all the spelling mistakes, as I am always half asleep anymore. )

Just over 3000. I reused most of the old parts ie; water pump, oil pump, etc.

This includes all the gaskets, studs etc.
