I'm also in NL - me and a mate here who are 968 owners are keen so we could do with knowing the shipping cost.

Curious why it was decided to produce them in 70s ghetto bronze instead of neutral black?

FWIW, I was doing a little searching for pictures with a bronze top and discovers this one that has been for sale for a year now!

Can't wait for the new thread on the 17th, "I can't believe how messed up the order system was for Pikington!"

Of course this item has been for sale like forever. When brand new, a Saratoga top only kind-of sealed at all when the vehicle was parked. Add a couple of decades of seal deterioration to a seal design that was useless to start with……. why would anyone pay a nickel for one of those original Saratoga tops?
I have a friend that lives ten minutes from the Ohio Pilkington facility where the new tops are distributed; maybe just show up at the door way before Pilkington starts taking phone orders?

Wink

Right! I'm sure it had nothing at all to do with the color!

The shipping cost maybe my deal breaker but we'll see. I can't believe I've waited 2yrs man I need a life lol. Also those who question the authenticity must not have been watching or read the thread since there are test pictures just saying

Won't be needing photos... since I'll have my own to look at.

I agree.

I am very happy to see that Pilk decided to make these again.

I think that of the various tints that these can be made in (black/smoke, dark green, blue etc.) I would think that bronze would be the least desired color.

I can't really think of any color car that this would be the best tint.

I think that it would have been wise on Pilk's part to do a poll on Rennlist as to what the most desired tint would be before committing to bronze.

I was initially excited about purchasing these until I realized that the only option was bronze.

Hopefully they will offer another option after the first 100 are sold.

My vote would be black/smoke which goes with most if not all colors.

In my opinion the bronze goes well with the vintage aspect of the car. I have the last version of the saratoga top (before this of course) in bronze and it flows very well with the rest of the car. I would order it in bronze again if there were other options.

I don't get how 70s bronze matches 80s/90s vintage cars!?

Seriously, can anyone show me a factory 80s car that came with bronze tint?

Does bronze have anything to do with reflecting the suns rays? Stopping fading and drying of the interior parts? just thinking here. What say all?
