This transmission turned out to be a non-LSD. I'm Trying to work it out with the Rennlister who sold it to me as an LSD transmission.

I'm in the market for a transmission upgrade, but I know next to nothing about the proper applications. My goal is to have a transmission that is great for Laguna Seca and good for the street, for a car that will never be in excess of ~300hp/tq. I'm not sure if going from a 5-spd to a 6-spd is even necessary (at least on my 996 I could only use 6th for the last 1/16 of a mile on the long straight, and my 951 is less powerful), but are 1st through 5th geared well for this application at this power level? What advantages would this trans give me over my stock 86 5-spd with LSD?
I know you haven't used it, but any idea of the condition of the LSD and the syncros? Is the speedo sensor "plug-n-play" for an 86 951?

You should probably communicate with Rogue Ant, who has a car with this conversion. AFAIK the Speedo requires installing a wheel sensor, since that's apparently the way it was done on the 968. As far as condition, It is low mileage and supposed to be in good shape.

Speedo can be adapted electronically if you have ABS (same as the 968). O/W you'll need to install a toothed ring + sensor on the stub axle.
John, what condition is the Pinion Bearing? Was its condition verified on the road?

The 92's were the only ones with the clutch type diff, from everything I have read. That was the nature of my question.
Too bad this wasn't around 6 months ago. Going to spread the word, I know one person who would definately be interested.

As far as the condition of the pinion bearing, I can only go by the 2 previous owners who said everything was OK. I am going to verify the year of manufacture. Apparently there are numbers on the bottom of the transmission that show the year. Can anyone verify this?
