Good luck . My 2 engines are coming along nicely as well , all ready sourced crank and rods for the second engine but unsure if i should go 2,8 or 3 ltr your swap may or may not motivate me to do a stroker build.

Well, my current motor was due for a rebuild and after a lot of rebuild quotes and research for other options, I came across a super low mileage (less than 5K) 2.8 stroker that the owner was considering selling. A fellow Rennlister, PiperPorsche (Randy) so we got to talking and I am buying his 2.8 as he is going into some other projects. So a big shout out to Randy!!!! ![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
He will be personally deleivering it to the DC area and meeting at a Porsche shop Saturday (Taylor Chapman Porsche) and that shop will do the swap for me and some other things.
So the timing of my motor needing attention and Randy looking to sell the 2.8 is what the deciding factor of 2.8 vs. 3.0 etc.
And yes my LR 75 will be woken up I'm sure from the increased displacement. I see 1 bar in 4th with the 2.5 at about 3,700. I would guess I will pick up 500rpm sooner with the 2.8???? or sooner?
Also, as I have been informed, especially with the motor out is the time to do it, with the 2.8 and my LR 75, my Cup clutch probably won't hold up, so I will be sending the Cub disck and PP off to South Bend clutch for their relineing package and cryo the PP. A savings of $600+ vs a new SPEC clutch! And they will load test it and know the exact tq it will handle.

Then maybe this time next year down to Broadfoot in Jax for widebody, paint etc. And I might be back in Orlando by that time anyway so I will be sure to stop by Redbone and give you a ride.

During research for rebuild I also looked into 2.8 and 3L rebuild and the extra cost for 3L I wasn't sure would be worth it but we have seen with proper tune and set up the 3L are monsters.

Hard? Not at all.
3.0L Crank, pistons, and rods are all that's needed. And I'm pretty sure stock rods can be made to work.
The most difficult part (IMHO... In the process of building a 2.8) was/is piston selection. The wrist pin must be moved up 4.5mm to make room for the added stroke of the 3.0L crank. So, you can go custom, or LR and Chris White have a few different choices available. Then depending on what way you want to go, you can have the pistons coated so they work with our alusil block, or the route I am choosing is to have my bores Ni-com (nikasil) plated, so *any* (uncoated) piston can be used.
Other than that, nothing difficult. No custom manifolds, or exhaust like a 3.0 has.
