I have a set of Factory Turbo Cup Car chips, verified through the data label on the chips, plus the gold label. The chips were set up to make max hp at 1.4 bar of boost; however with what injector size is the question. I ran VERY rich with them - Bosch 52# and 17 psi of boost. I loaned them to a friend who had 72# inj and he ran at 11.6 to 11.9 at 18psi,,,so maybe they were 83#,,who knows what the factory did. Somebody must. There have been threads about the cars,,,search the archives.

The turbo cups differed from the normal turbos in these ways:

1) Bigger turbo (K27 perhaps)
2) "hotter" chips
3) coil-helper suspensions
4) Magnesium wheels
5) Magnesium intake manifold
6) Came with roll cage

I think they made around 250 rwhp or so, and 99 were made.

Visit the following web site dedicated to Turbo Cup cars:
http://www.asarus.com/
There is a lot of nice pictures...
The cars were advertised with 290 HP but most pull out 305 HP.
There is a lot of specific parts:
- Fiber Hood
- Small mirrors from 924
- Cup exhaust
- Matter Roll cage
- thin windshield
- Mag sump / intake
- Big sway bars 30 mm / 21 mm
There is a nice one for sale at around 30 000 USD with a lot of spares....

"I thought the turbo cup cars were just Turbo S's but in Canada/Europe?"

Could very well be. I've compared the chips and the fuel-maps on the TurboCup chips are identical to the later TurboS cars. There is one fuel-value in the idle maps that's different. The ignition maps are very similar as well. Out of 495 ignition data cells, 9 are different between the two.

So could one run the TurboS chips in your non-S car to get TurboCup performance? Well, it wouldn't really do you much good because the different turbo and its flow patterns would give you less power due to mis-matched chips. Also the TurboS only came in 28-pin chips while most non-S turbos use 24-pin chips.

I have got a Turbo Cup drivetrain in my 951. Produces 260 RWHP / 305 FWHP.

All the changes from a regular Turbo to a Turbo Cup are described on the site of Seb. www.asarus.com

The code on the CPU (not the EPROM) is different on the CUP cars. The turbo was a K26#8...
A friend of mine has one of the original 15 or 16 cars that were imported to the US in 85.. I'll check on the injectors.

I know of 2 original Turbo Cup -86 here in Sweden (one is now totalled) and they have as fast951 says K26/8#. They also have the stock Turbo S injectors.

I have one of tese Cups. It does NOT pull 1.4 bar boost. more like 1 bar.
When assembled, they had 295-298 HP, and around 305 when run-in.
The list of mods is very long, from lightening to strenghtening. The gearbox has a cooler loop.

What "model year" are the Cup chips you have?

Just asking because Cup cars had:
- 220hp (Germany in 1987);
- 250hp (Germany & France, 1988 & 1989);
- 290hp (France only, 1990).

These cars were not just Turbo "S"s in Canada/Europe. These cars had a total of 52 differences between the regular Turbo S car. I have one of these cars. Although there weren't many extensive engine mods, besides a larger turbo and magnesium intake, the car had different gear ratios, a beefed up trans with cooler and better brakes. Most of the other mods were, as said in a previuos post, lightening and strengthening.

These cars have more horsepower than the Turbo S, but I believe that is from the racing mapping system, turbo and exhuast.

PS, my Rothman Turbo Cup car is for sale.

I see that some of you own a Turbo Cup, great !

Could you send me detailled information and pictures of your cars so i can add it to my Turbo Cup registry, that would be really nice.

My Cup registry is here (sorry, but i have a pb with one of my provider and some pictures are not available currently, that will be solved within the next days i hope) :
