The brake calipers were identical to the TurboS cars, but the discs were drilled.

This page has the list of Cup specific parts, thanks to Asarus (and to this writer, hehe).

What is the point of that magnesium intake manifold other then it looks all slick? Is it just more of a "polished" type thing on the inside?

The manifold is way lighter than its alloy counterpart, and I *think* it has larger iner diameter. Never took mine off to measure. Has anyone??

Magnesium burns. I have heard stories of magnesium manifolds burning for a week ... the fire can not easily be extiguished.

What's the weight of a cup car? Did they come from the factory w/ battery cut-offs?

"What "model year" are the Cup chips you have?

The gold-foil label says 084 on the KLR chip and 085 on the DME chip. I'm not sure if that relates to the model year. They are 24-pin, so I assume it was for the '87 car?

Does any one know if the TurboCup cars got the 28-pin DME like the street Turbos in '88+?

Luke,
For 1990 the last year the 944 was run in France (my car), the homologation weight was 1160 Kgs, or about 2552 Lbs, without fuel or windshield washer. You can go lower. Mine is at about 2430 Lbs.

George,

Can you tell me some of the differences in Chassis construction.... is there an coating on it? Are there Tbars? and helper's? what size are the T bar?

Did cup cars in 90' have abs?

What does the rear seat look like? Are there undertray panels for the motor?

Have you corner balanced her? HOw does it sit w/o any pre- load?

Any info is MUCH appreciated thank you very much

Hi Luke,
Here is my very first post on Rennlist, that was a while ago:

Hi Guys, I'm new here, but a long time reader.
I own a 951 Cup car, from the French series, so maybe I can give some details:
The cars had 305 HP and 410 Nm, via a modified DME and KLR. The differences were:
Max RPM 6700
magnesium sump,
Magnesium inlet manifold,
90W alternator,
stronger engine supports,
no power steering,
modified Turbo,
Bosch W 4 cc spark plugs,
no resistors in the fan circuit, meaning it goes full speed all the time,
Glued, riveted clutch disk,
modified gearbox coling,
stronger gearbox supports,
30 mm front anti roll bar, 21 mm rear,
helicoidal springs front and rear,
drilled front brake discs,
switchable ABS,
Pagid S-535 brake pads,
front brake cooling ducts in place of driving lights,
8 and 9X16 Magnesium phone dial wheels,
no sound deadening,
no rear seat back,
1 driver Recaro bucket, 1 std passenger seat,
no glove box,
no radio console,
no door pockets,
no climate control (...),
no lighting for engine compatment or glovebox,
manual windows,
no rear wiper,
no rear hatch release,
no inner fender liners, except RF for ABS circuit,
rolled lips on 4 fenders,
thinner windshield,
honeycomb sandwich front hood, aluminum prop,
shock tower brace,
reinforced front chassis rails,
36 Ah battery, with racing cut-off,
8 point Matter roll cage,
Empty (no fuel) weight 1160 Kgs, about2550 Lbs
There have been about 110-115 cars built altogether, including the first 220HP versions for 1986.

They are really efficient, and have been timed above 190 Mph by many different sources.
Regards, GeorgeK
