Will the internal waste-gate on your turbo be "disabled" for your application? Was wondering how that plays into the setups on your and Thingo"s car?

I was looking a the next size down from your turbo...seems comparable in size to the new GTX35R. I will eventually get a turbo for the RAGE2 car which I am leaning towards a 3.0L crank instead of a 2.5 crank and be the same as Refresh951.

You choose if you want an internal or external gate. Both Rods and Patricks have no internal wastegate.

So the pic with the turbo and diet pepsi bottle, is that Patrick's actual turbo or just a picture from the net?

Do the turbo's actually look different. Every picture online looks like they have an internal waste-gate.

Just really curious what one looks like without the internal gate if different?

You might be getting confused with the integrated BOV on compressor side of Patrick's turbo.

Turbos with an internal wastgate will have an actuator and a rod going to the wastgate on the turbine housing.

Ahhhh.

Thanks for clarifying that one. I was a little confused.

Sorry, that pic was just a random pic to show the size of it...which does appear rather large. It's about 5cm's wider than the GTX35. Not quite sure how much larger the diameter is yet.

A minor update. The new turbo went in and we found that the comp housing is quite a bit taller so we've lost 2cms in underhood space which means the intake is going to be very close to it. New intake is probably still a month away in his queue.

New twin 2-1 w/ twin X-overs and turbo back exhaust starting this week.

Patrick if you're not running balance shafts, you may want to remove the housing and put a flat plate there to get more room.

BTW. Those housings are an absolute ***** to weld. When i cracked mine, no matter how many times we welded it, It would leak. It was because the casting was **** with pockets inside and the oil would travel. The crack was pretty bad though.
Hopefully that wont be the case with yours.

Got a feeling that the block has been plugged anyway. The covers are superficial I believe.

I see the new WTAC regs are out Patrick, No H pattern gearboxes allowed, too much of an advantage over those archaic sequentials.

Haha...yes, that would be one way of beating us. Rule out H patterns!
