Patrick

The weakest point on these motors seems to be the oiling system. Besides using better rod bearings, what else are you using to stop cavitation and aeration of oil at 8000rpm?

Will you be changing rod bearings every few events?

He doesn't need to. Patrick only uses his engines for a few events, then he gets bored and builds a new one

Some more work being done prior to the new long block arriving next week. New coat of paint underneath. Newly built torsion tube carrier. Made out of thicker sheet steel to survive the loads that the last one didn't. We were initially going to go back to the stock piece but it's so heavy and doesn't offer the advantage of the raised pickup points so it was decided to make a new one. Sandblasted and fitted new Racers Edge bearings. Fitted new drive shaft bearings via Constantine. They look more sturdy than the stock ones. Fitted all new rear axles and CVs and rebuilt front and rear wheel bearings.
Paul has also repositioned the pedal box to be higher and further away from the seat. This will create a more 'open wheel' leg extension which is ergonomically superior.

The long block is on it's way. This is the 2.5ltr 8v not the 16v motor. Really looking forward to seeing how different this 'little' motor is compared to the last. Once it gets here we will O ring it and have the same sealing rings and copper gasket made up. Trying to get another intake that will be more suitable for this head/cam arrangement but may have to use the current one initially.

No. Quite a bit more race oriented. Solids, BiG cam, ports etc. Will make power beyond 8000rpm.
Will have the old cam/head and possibly intake for sale.

I love it. Very nice work.

One question... when you did the pedal box, how come you didn't use the master cylinders that had the remote reservoir option? It's gonna be a bitch bleeding/filling up the masters. Plus that **** down there gets very dirty... lots of little rocks/dirt that gather down there (that's the reason Vision wanted ours hung).

But if you decide to get the remote masters... I have a brand new triple master reservoir you can have free for the cost of shipping.

I'll ask today. Might take you up on that generous offer.

Season has started Shawn. We're not competing in the local club stuff for any titles this year. Having ticked that box last year and also not having a motor means we will just use the Club rounds to have some fun and also continue to develop the car. I seriously need some seat time personally as I never really got a lot of driving last year. Our main objective is the event in October but also to enjoy the car a little more this year, for me at least.

Oh, Tony. Thanks for the generous offer on the reservoir. I spoke to Paul and he said that it's no real hassle for us. We don't have a passenger seat so access is easy enough for him. Thanks all the same.
