Darn..one of the nicest for sure..
Just for the interior you may want to buy it back. Keep us all posted on how it all goes. It's nice to know what insureance companies end up doing in these cases.

Thanks for the well wishes and sympathy all, I'll keep you posted as this saga unfolds.
My inclination is to buy it back and either part it or transfer the good stuff but it all just depends on the numbers.
The closer I look at the driver's door the happier I am to be walking around unscathed.

on a side note, I damn near got taken out by some dumb "Can't Understand Normal Thinking" driver who thought it would be neat to go straight right as I was begining my left turn in front of her. she had the stop, I did not. Bad day for 944s?

Damm, that was a hard hit. Glad you are ok!

As stated, very sorry to see this. Bad part is the time it takes to get the car to the state you had it, no way to put a price on the time it took, or the time it will take to swap stuff over.
When I finish mine, I plan to have a stated value ins plan, when I had a claim, I was very frustrated w/ the value they put on the car. Finally settled after 2 years.
If you do part, I would be interested in the dash and center console.
But, I would rather see you rebuild it or transfer the parts and start again, although I understand if you don't.

These cars were built really well. Glad you are okay. Sorry to see the car. It looks like it was in really good shape. I would be devastated if my car got hit. At least you can get another one and transplant like everyone is saying or buy it back and part it.
Good luck.
Good luck.

DUDE, sorry for the loss, but there is a bright side, now you can find a black on black shell and start over...
OK, to remain on topic and answer the questions asked:
1) YES you can work this directly through YOUR insurance, as long as she was cited at fault, or you have full coverage. They will fix / settle your car for you then go after her insurance or her directly for recompense.
2) Yes it is most likely totaled, your options are to fight with the insurance company over fair market value, and true replacement cost of the car, then buy back at your option for wholesale cost of the car... Fight them tooth and nail until you are satisfied with the settlement.
3) I would buy it back, and either transfer pieces to a new shell, or totally part the car out... your option.
Don't let them screw you with KBB value, you need to get true replacement cost, including any and all parts you have receipts for.
