We removed the fuel tank. It will be easier to clean the undergarriage when it is removed. Also easier to wash the tank.

Torque tube is more or less ready to be painted, we will also change the bearings.

When you have removed the rear axle, it's really easy to take off the gas tank.Just un-plug couple of hoses and remove two bolts.

I appreciate, very much, this thread detailing the restoration of this 951. Any well executed restoration holds my interest having done a few myself.

Thanks Olli

Son assembled Gaz coil overs. Now they are according to our color scheme red. Job was done by the same company which our friend Antti uses for his billet parts. Since we have a lot of them, Gaz blue had to go

Son removing surface rust

rear bumper was removed, like diffusor as well

Bumper have a minor scratch, so it has to go. Luckily i have a new unused part reserved for repalcemet

Got transmission carrier from Antti. It's a special version with red bushings Commercially available version have black ones

No, undercoating will not be removed. It's in very good condition. We just removed all the dirt. Now we are going to re paint the areas which were painted from the factory. After that we are going to make it rolling again.

Did you check for (small) holes in the shell before using the pressure washer?

I would be concerned with creating "rust nests" if water makes its way into impossible places after using a pressure washer this way.

Aahh.... to be young !
How crazy am I...
I did a very similar thing in a carpeted garage!!
Used all sorts of stuff including a pressure washer and then, when I finally got the wheels on, moved it to the driveway and used the pressure washer again, on the mid under-body of the car, and pulled the outside floor board covers off, and cleaned under there as well...
Sure helps when the temps are around 75 degrees
It sure made the car a lot lighter ( removing all that dirt )
Keep up the great work...
Regards
Ed

Yes we did. The bottom was also blown with air compressor. Sons garage have heated floor, which was turned on to maximum. Also an additional 9KW electric heater/blower was used to generate even more heat. We had about as much heat as we had in our Sauna.....Garage have a electric ventilation system which sucks moisture out very efficent way, with a special plumping, which separates water & oil, so we did it environment friendly way.
Hey i desigend this garage about 20 years ago, it even have a shower & toilet. Just garage Sauna is missing. I suppose this garage fullfills sons demand quite nicely. I am sure 99% of moist was gone in just half an hour or even faster
