Reviving an old thread:

- are the adapter brackets still for sale?
- what's the feedback on the 996 TT brake setup on the 951/968 for street and track use?
- how does it compare to the Big Red/Black setup?
- cost of replacement parts vs. Big Red/Black?

Pads are VEERY clos the same price and nearly the same size -

 

The 996tt's are a newer system then the big reds or blacks, and as such have a few marginal improvements, i.e. larger rotors. The biggest issue was the dwindling numbers of available big reds or blacks.

 

There are new ones available now for the right price. I just recently bought a brand new set from Sunset.

Edit: Big Blacks at least are available.

 

996TT rotors are 330mm and 993TT are approx. 322mm

 

So are the brackets still available? And are they than also for the non M030 hubs?

 

And are the centering rings for the rotors still available? Any feedback from the guys who track their cars?

The people who were making them in Houston are no longer making them to the best of my knowledge. I have them on my car and like them a lot. The biggest thing about them is they take longer to start the inevitable brake fade.

 

Nice Olli, thanks! I'll keep that in mind when i finally find a decent set of calipers, most of them are sold outside of europe and shipping is a killer!

you have to wait till GT3 Cup season is over in Europe.... After that German E-bay is usually full of used 6-pot calipers

 

IMHO, skip the Porsche Cup calipers if you really want a quality set. They discard them rather than rebuild them. Too expensive. Look to other brands or just go for Big Reds which are good enough for most applications.

 

Well, i'm doing the maintenance to a 996 gt3 cup and the rebuild on those calipers wasn't too expensive, if you even need to rebuild them. Normally you just need to take them apart, clean them up and check if the pistons are oke and if not replace them, otherwise just build them back together!

 

And Olli, thanks, just checked german ebay and there are front sets for 400 euro, rebuild, even sets for 200!
