Well break out the champagne it’s done! There are still a few odds & ends to wrap up but, she went on her maiden voyage tonight! It was dark & the only lights on the car were on my Racepak dash so 35mph was all I could manage using the street lights near my office as a guide. Tomorrow morning she goes over to the muffler shop then we tidy her up a little for a local dyno day on Saturday.
This build has been a great experience & I could not do it without my race mechanic Jamie & my fellow track enthusiast Kevin H thanks for helping us rally at the end.

Sorry I missed you at the track! We had a blast even in the 40 degree weather.
It was a run to the wire to get to the race. We found out we had a issue on the dyno the weekend before the race the car seemed to hit a wall at 5k rpm’s we ran new ground cables & finally I broke down & ordered the MEFI burn software to look at the ECU software. Many thanks to Bob at MEFI burn we were able to find a rev limiter that was set to low on Friday before we left to the track. We made a quick change in the software & a dyno run then left for Houston Friday at 2pm.
The weekend went perfect my 1st time in the car was the 15 min practice Saturday morning. It took some getting used to. My shift points have all changes & I had to get used to manual brakes, having tons of torque doesn’t suck! By the end of Saturday my laps times were 3 secs better than the turbo motor. On Sunday that improved to 5 secs.
We only opened the hood to check the fluids all weekend the car ran flawlessly!

They are so freaking loud at the track and not a nice noise to my ears.

The whole Mazda thing sucks. I was looking forward to a Porsche sweep. That rotary is a work of genius. At 250 pounds it would be a good conversion motor. Still don't "really" like it.
