+1...lots of peole say 300whp will hold its own with most of the car you encounter on the street, but I completely disagree. It might hold it's own with the stock performance cars around but there are a lot of fast cars around the streets I grew up in and 300whp won't even get anyone interested in your car except for high schoolers who think 15 sec. quarter miles are fast.
Onto the standing mile...there are a few TT vipers with full interior getting close to the supras as well. The lambos are all full interior too where the supras are gutted race cars. Vipers have been losing 5th gear a lot lately though...for some reason the T56 just doesn't like 1500+ft-lbs in 5th gear

I would think that our cars handle better than most of the other cars mentioned above, and I know that's a big reason for why we love our 944/968s so much... I don't generally see Porsches being the race community's favorite option for standing mile projects... but, the idea of eventually reaching 190 mph on a long straight in one of our transaxle cars appeals to me for some reason. A road that comes to mind is I-29 running north/south in western Iowa and Missouri... There's some extremely long straights and the surface is oh-so-smooth.

I will have to say I think my car is pretty quick. Not fast. Fast now days is over 1,000 hp (Next car will be a GTM with hopefully a 1200hp/1500lb tq Duramax). When I did my high speed run, it was solid as a rock. I have a great tq curve and it just keeps pulling. To the point that at about 160mph or so, a few rennlisters who had come to town and went for a ride, wanted me to back off. They were amazed. However, my car couldn't do my top speed in the mile. At about 188 or so it just hits a brick wall and took probably another mile to get to the 194. Pretty proud of her though.

From the photo your car has negative rake and no front splitter...at 140 you were skating!

I love the 951 and mine is plenty fast, but I agree its not FAST compared to other cars; mine is fast compared to other Porsches... which is where I think this thread got off track. I love the way it looks, handles, its speed, power, and compared to other Porsches its right up there.
NO IDEA of top end as I have not been on a track that would me to leave my foot in it; I have about 2000 rpm left on the tach when I lift at the 150yd and brake at the 100yd (on streets) Road Atlanta... I'm confident that I can peg the speedo given some more track, but I don't think the car would make it much past 175 or so... would be fun to find out!
NEVER ON THE STREET THOUGH... bad idea.

oem body, I don't drive at 190 too often
too much positive can be bad too...you want the car neutral so as to disturb the air flow as little as possible, for both speed and stability...
faster underbody air = more downforce (less lift in our case)
my e46 M3, all oem except for eibach/konis (and euro brakes, chip delimited)
pulls 165+ rock solid...still gets lighter though...but not like the 951
my RS4 with chip will do 170+ and feels good, it does get unsettled during high speed braking, ie, nose heavy...oem
Auto Motor und Sport publishes lift figures for cars tested...you'ld be suprised how poorly some supposed aero designed cars perform...I can't recall seeing any cars with down force...
the RS4 for example:
front 75 lbs +
rear 33 lbs+
at 124 mi/hr
and this is a heavier, more aero advance car...
I bet the 951 is at least 300% more, just judging from shape, underbody refinement, wheel well shape, cd and frontal area
F 220+
R 100+
so at 180
F 500
R 225
not good

IMHO all out top speed isn't really important on the stree esp when we are talking rolling up on bikes or vipers or supra's.. One of the biggest drawbacks i see with the 951 may be the transmission, i'm sure you could get great hp out of a 944 but is it really worth the investment. I like the v8 swaps but what about putting in a 4g63 out of an evo, or maybe an sr20 from a silvia, 2jz from a supra, or even the good ol rb from a skyline? I'd personally rather have a quick balanced streetable car.. Its not like i streetrace or run a texas mile everyday, plus here in lower alabama there are no tracks to check my car out
