What kind of suspension are you running and can you share your alignments settings?

Hi Thom, I'm sorry for the delay, I just saw this. My car doesn't really have that much in suspension. I have adjustable koni's on the stiffest setting, A factory spec alignment, and an AIR front splitter. I have just under 4" ground clearance.

i've been an advocate for proper remake of the front-engine Porsche that combines the better handling of the lighter 968, only with a V8....

on OT, making such an argument usually falls on deaf ears....

with the death of Ferdinand Alexander Porsche, the 911 orgy continues on OT.....

i liked the guy... but i'm wondering,

should the worship of Porsche continue without a proper front-engine P-car, or building up at least 1 Cayman to the limit ?

well, we have head gasket failures to look forward to.

yeah, we think we have it so bad... but i guess it's all relative.....

but, in the high stakes game of 911s out of warranty (ims failure), there's no "LS1" solution.

sure there is.

and stop calling any car you dont like a "****box"...it's arrogant.

and what a waste of a 911...but even crushed up, its still got a higher resale than a 968.

don't get me wrong, if it weren't for being very excited about owning a Cayman someday, i would still love to have a 993 or 997.... while i respect Ehall's general knowledge of the 944, Porsche always does what they can to make the 911 look good (including the Cayman which, if powered up to the 911 Turbo, would beat the 911), and in the past, they always held their front engine 4 cars back. i think Porsche deserves part of the blame for not offering a new lightweight, fast, front-engine car by the late '90s/early '00s... why, becuase, by the time the S2 was being updated, they had nearly priced themselves out of the market.

i just don't see him that way. great designer to be sure, but the company went in some directions that i can't understand, and my thinking is, he must have influenced this in order to make his beloved 911 look better.... i don't agree with not updating the 928/968 (superb transaxle design) with a single car taking the best of both, to stem the front engine purge.... (ok, maybe not in 1996 when they didn't have the money), but surely, at some point later (after they had turned the company around), instead of getting, essentially, 5 other cars, and no front engine sports car..... and like, always holding other cars back when they could just put a proper engine in a 968, 928 (or variant) or Cayman all along.

when they continuously do all that they can for the 911.

you can use whatever argument you want to back Porsche on the decisions to do the Panamera and now, this silly Macon !! (ok, i can't blame the Macon on F.A.).... i agree they made a lot of great moves to keep the company going after near-death during the 1991 recession. and conceptually, i like the Boxster, and i like the 911. but after the Cayenne, we should have got a front-engine sports car using modern composite materials and a V8 engine.

but where i really find fault is Porsche's poor customer service. i think they've been thumbing up their noses to loyal customers for years, using their name and niche market cache instead of doing more to show how much they appreciate their customers (yes, we know they're not alone)....

they want to be though of as a family, and that we're part of some family. so then, why do i sense a disconnect between Weissach/Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen and the dealers ?

i also think they didn't put enough R&D into their next generation, M96 engines before going into production....

it wasn't my intention to asperse F.A after his passing.

I doubt you will see many cars in Germany with said Ribbon .. those guys will be out driving like he wanted us to.

I think Hacker has it right with a classy Avatar. Beyond that you're just a joiner .. Porsche was designed about being something different .. well .. in the beginning anyway ...

Demetrios, what is the ratio of the Audi 5th gear set you got?

I have an Audi 0.68 5th gear set in my 951 box, from a US-spec '80's 5000 diesel, but I think there were much taller 5th gear sets in the European versions.

Even with the NA 5th gear in the 951 box, I was still never happy with the hiway rpms. I guess I was used to the C5's 6 speed, but could look past it. So the taller Audi 5th would be gold if they can still be found. However even the 1st gear in the 951 box spun out too fast for my taste. That's why my new hybrid is getting a Z06 torque tube and t56 transplant. The 6 speeed swap also puts you in F1 weight distribution....bonus for getting the V8 torque to the ground.
