Very cool.

I breezed through this thread the other day and thought I got the "gist" of it - I figured you guys were building race cars. I *just* threw out a tired, but complete, tan carpet set. xupkid2 called me last night to ask me if I still had it and pointed me back to this thread. Damn.

I'll send off a few bucks via paypal for ya - I think this is great!

just got off the phone with Zach - he is so surprised with the help. I told him P addicts are one of a kind

he is going to start tearing into her 924s this weekend and I am going to be there alongside

the other 3 boys are going to start tearing into the old 951 also

reminds me of when dick van dyke found chitty at the junk yard and pulled her into his barn

In my profession there are a lot of younger folks involved. A lot of them would definitely be considered "privileged", college educated, still living off mommy and daddy while collecting an $80k paycheck - and they whine and cry the instant they actually have to put real effort into something. And these are people in their early 20s already, college graduates, not teens!

So many kids these days have no concept of true HARD WORK. You are doing these kids a HUGE service, they are going to learn fundamental life concepts that will continually pay off in them for the rest of their life. The skills learned in this will go WELL beyond just knowing how to fix up a car!

Seriously - best of luck to all of you involved!

Richard,
Are you still looking for a 951 block? I have one. It is in the car, but I am planning to but a three liter in this winter. The engine leaks a sheetload of oil out the front of the cambox and burns some oil out the exhaust too. Not sure if it is the rings or a bad turbo. Right now the car is in Austin at TPWS. We could pull the engine there next week or it goes out to my ranch in Fischer (between Canyon Lake and Wimberley). Not much in the way of facilities to work on the car at the ranch though. Let me know.
Richard

If anyone wants to make a small donation to Richard for the shipping costs, I am sure it will help out with donations. Some of the parts donations such as seats, engine blocks, carpet get a little pricey to ship even by bus. Every little bit helps. I did an estimate and it runs about $1/lb to ship by bus for large items.

we started in earnest today
the responses are overwhelming

I am meeting guys much like zach and the others that had a Porsche older guy take them under their wing and learn a skill and in turn got a killer car

cash for clunkers - forget about it

how about clunkers for kids

how many porsches end up victims of the crusher or a saws-all

start a movement - talk to your region board
catch the fever

SAVE A PORSCHE AND IN TURN SAVE A KID

Please dont let this post go to page 2
keep it alive longer and deeper than any post we have ever followed

I need your help
