The 19s on that mk5 are more acceptable than 19s on a 944.

I think 18's are the best sized wheel for a 944. 17's if you want lighter weight for track wheels and have big brakes. 19's are too big for my tastes, the car is just too small.

I love me some 18" Cup II's

Not really... the rims are staggered and wider in the rear than in the front... Also the VW requires adapters since the lug pattern is larger on the rims; which pushes the wheels out even more... and the wider rear rims are useless on the VW since its a front wheel drive car... if he had 4 front wheels all around it would be OK...

Id put those Carrera Turbo Wheels on my 944 in a heartbeat..! Just Sexy..!

My previous post revised:

The 19s on that mk5 are more acceptable than the 19s on your 944.

It would be one thing if you had LM-Rs

Lowering your car would work wonders.

I mean that the 944's are smaller than the newer Porsches. Is that more clear? That is not an opinion, it is a factual description of the physical characteristics. There really isn't anything to disagree wtih. New Porsches, particularly the ones with big wheels you reference, are bigger in size - longer, taller, wider, heavier - than the 944. Even the Boxster is slightly bigger than the 944, and the 911 is like a tank compared to the 944.

Because of that, 944's look like cartoons with wheels that big. Yours would probably look better if it were lowered a lot. But honestly, wheels that big just flat out overpower the car. I mean, I'm glad you are happy with it, that's really all that counts. I just personally think they are too big.

The "Facts" reveal a difference in peanuts; in some model comparisons the 944 is the "bigger" car... Especially the 944 compared to the 95 - 98 911... Just the facts...

All 944's - wheelbase is 94.5inch Overall Length is 168.9 or 170inch Overall Width is 68.3inch

968's - Wheelbase is 94.5 Overall Length is 170.9inch Overall Width is 68.3inch

97 - 04 Boxster - Wheelbase is 95.1inch Overall Length is 169.8inch Overall Width is 70.1inch

05 - 08 Boxster & Cayman - Wheelbase is 95.1inch Overall Length is 172.1inch Overall Width is 70.9inch

95 - 98 911's - Wheelbase is 89.5inch Overall Length is 167.8inch Overall Width is 68.3inch

2007 911 - Wheelbase is 92.5inch Overall Length is 175.6inch Overall Width is 71.2inch

Those guy over in the porsche factory must love "cartoons"..!

The two dimensions you’re missing are vehicle and wheel arch height. Adding these in to the equation either makes the proportions right or wrong.

I was looking at the newer Porsches. As you said, Porsche is putting big wheels on their newer cars. Which pretty much supports my statement. 7" longer and 3" wider.

They never put 19" wheels on the 993's, anyway. So I don't get your point. If you want to go back to the mid 90's, why not just use the 968? It is almost identical (and for a good reason!). And about as appropriate, since they never put 19's on those, either.

What you are also completely missing is that the car and wheel opening were designed around 15-16" wheels.

Like I said, if you are happy, that's all that counts. I just personally don't think it looks good. And I frankly think it is irrelevant since the OP was asking about two different wheels, neither of which are 19's.

To get this back on topic, I believe we have eliminated one choice- 19 inch wheels.

Twists FTW, I dont care if everyone has them, they look better than those other wheels.

But, there are better wheel choices in my opinion.

Originally I was going to get a set of 18"s... These;

http://www.mcicars.com/media/images/...er%20Wheel.JPG

But They seemed too Plain and Since everyone has the Twists and slants I opted against it... BTW they make the Turbo wheels as seen on that MK5 Golf in 18 inch too...

http://carphotos.cardomain.com/ride_...0015_large.jpg

That would be the ones to get to stand out from all the others...

I still say 19"s are the only way to go..!

best beef up the front end with 19's, porsche doesn't recommend over 17's on these 944's.

to me the 19's have the ricer look.

Thse are the wheels that I would like to see on a 944. Even though I've got twists, I prefer the symmetrical style. The Carrera III's also look good.

Here's mine on red. I like 'em because they look a bit like modern Fuchs. I'm running 225/45/17 in front and 255/40/17 in back.
