Default Opinion: Twists or These?

New Rims to replace the 16" PD's on my 1986 951.

I see a lot of cars with the Twists but what do you think of this style?

These are boxster rims and they are 17". Offset is 55 front and 48 back.

I like them a lot more than the Twists. Not as much as the Cups. I just havent actually seen them on a 951.

i like the twists but wouldnt put them on my car because of how they go in opposite directions depending on the side of the car and that just seems odd to me.

these look nice.

I have those on mine. They're my favourite of the Boxster wheels, and they have slightly sharper lines than the twists.

I don't seem to have any particularly good pictures, unfortunately.

Hey, there you go! Not great shots of the wheels, but I do think that they're the best looking of the 17" wheels on a light-coloured car. My #2 choice are the Cup 1 wheels.

What I'd really like to see on a 944/951 now is a set of those reissue fuchs they put on the new 911SC!

Charlie,
What size tires do you have on yours?

These are currently mounted with:
Rear 255/40R17
Front 205/45R17

Tire Rack says for stock 7x17 and 8x17:
Rear 255/40-17 (I know this wont be the same because the new rims are wider)
Front 205/50-17

I am a tire tard. I do not know exactly how the ratio works.

Anyone know of a tool that will calculate the difference between what I need to keep my speedo correct? or will the tires on this set be correct as is?

255 = tread width in mm
/40 = sidewall is 40% of tread width (255*.4=102mm total (51mm on each side of rim)
17 is the wheel size...

When going to larger rims, use the above on your stock tires and wheels, then adjust for new rims by adjusting the ratio number on teh new tires..

I have 245/40 17 and 205/45 17s on my 951 and my speedo is accurate beyond the top speed I have driven it at confirmed with GPS (141) as my new tires match the tire Outside diameter of the stock tires fitted... same height on the car, just less rubber acting as part of the suspension... and lighter wheels for less unsprung weight...

now if I can only fond a deal on a set of MY02s... mmmm pure sex....
