budget? hahaha

you need motivation, i need a factory and to be a little older then i am to do a 3L twincam. these pictures get me jealous haha.

In 3.0 terms it is very much a budget build ..
no fancy rods no fancy cams no port work
no extra clever machine work ..
I think its its a very smart build ...my 3.0 will be double the expense and trouble and no way mine will be twice as good I really wish that 3 or 4 of us had got together and built 3 motors similar to this at the same time but sadly 3.0 stuff is so rare down here you tend to keep it secret from your mates then jump on it

Thought i would share a few pictures of the interior, i bought from classic 9 leather shop, a leather dashboard cover, that i installed recently. The old vinyl must be removed first. the 968 CS seats have been in there for the past few years.

What is that bright red crab claw looking thing coming out of the gauge panel?
It looks EXCELLENT!

btw just to clear up any misconceptions about me beating Sean on the track. My car has much more recent suspension than his and also I have most of the Racers Edge kit, plus the Big Reds on the front and my car is lighter...so it's not like we're in totally even cars.

you got it wrong Pat, it makes the car go Exellent.

I will have the big reds soon, the cars are still kinda close power wise down EC straight. just not through the corners.

update time again,
over the past 2 nights i have modded the exhaust to fit. the problem is the 3 bolt flange on the twin cam head. I cut the S2 headers about an inch or so out from the flange, cut up some 944 turbo headers to suit. i really wanted a system that has little or no stress when its bolted together. Out with the Tig.

Hi Sean….it looks like you have one of the ‘early’ design SFR 16v manifolds….the throttle body flange is not in the stock location. You may want to check it out to see if this is going to be a problem for you before you get too far along. Shoot me an email if you want more details on the issues.

Does anyone (LR perhaps?) make a 16V head -> 951 exhaust set of exhaust headers?

Very nice work on the headers. So the original 16v header pipes are the same diameter as the 951 pipes? Are you going to put the heat shields back on -- that would make them look they they shipped from Germany that way....

SFR makes them in the stock type 4-2-1 (stage 1) and a race type 4 into 1 (stage 2)

Hi Tom,
i could do that. i cut the heatshields with a small saw, so i could weld them back on. i would not have any more of the heat absorbing matting on the inside of the heat shields. i got rid of that stuff, not knowing whether it was dangerous or not. i may just wrap the whole exhaust.

unfortunatly neither fit on a RHD 951.
