Default Who will be happy with 300-320rwhp?

We recently tested a combination of what we call a "cheater turbo". The turbo is based on the K26 (#6 or #8) with our custom mods and compressor wheel. The turbo looks identical to the K26, no way to tell a difference till you open it up.

The results are great. On a stock boost level, we are around 270-280rwhp and lots of torque. Turn up the boost and 300+rwhp with similar torque is no issue. A nice wide powerband, with similar spoolup characteristics to the base turbo!!!.

The beauty of this setup is the ability to use the factory J-boot for 100% stealth look.

I'm thinking of putting together a package to include the turbo (on a exchange basis), AFM software , a way to fine tune the setup and to set boost (cycling valve and single port WG will be supported). The target price will be around $1995.

Do think this will be a good option for someone wanting a good performance increase at a entry level price?

Adding K26/8 Cheater turbo dyno chart. The boost hits 14psi, then drops to 10-11psi by 4200-4400rpm. (KLR in charge of boost - restrictor in banjo bolt).

I'd be, that's more than enough for everyday use, and good for track too...with more power you're getting too often into traction problems. As a matter of fact I used to have such a stealth system. 348 FWhp and 508 FWNm, power curve can be seen in that "S*** happened" thread. I liked it!

There are lots of "cheater" turbos out there. Power is not a problem. On the K26/8 cheater, boost goes to 14psi then drops down to 10psi, the KLR was in full control, for testing we used a jetted banjo bolt. We saw 340rwtq. On a K26/6 based cheater turbo we saw 270+rwhp at 13psi boost (on a load dyno!) using the factory DME chip..

300-320rwhp is teh target for this package! If you want more, there is the Stage 2 and Stage 3 turbos (while available).

300+rwhp and similar torque makes a nice combo for both street and track. Of course the more the better .

Not for me

Hell John, if you would have offered this type of package 4 years ago I'd probably have bought one!

John
This really sounds like a heck of a package. I would be interested.

How were you thinking of fine tuning the setup?

When do we hit 1 bar on an otherwise stock setup?

320whp would probably be plenty of fun

I was happy when I was making 330rwhp and if it can do 300ish with the spool of a 26/6 sound's pretty nice minus on the track with the kick in the pants during every shift

A chip will be provided. Fine tuning and boost control will be done via the PB.

Boost characteristics are similar to the base turbo. WIth the boost control you have lots of flexibility where you can set a very aggressive spoolup or very mild. A way to revert back to factory boost control via KLR is available, just flip a switch

When it comes time to replace my stock turbo, I'd definitely consider a kit like this. Frankly I'm happy enough with the power the car makes now (LBE + Weltmeister sw + 3" exhaust, otherwise stock power-wise), and would either do a stock replacement or something that was pretty mildly upgraded. This sounds perfect.

Yes. We use your turbo to rebuild and modify! (core exchange).
