Unhappy This close to giving up

I replace the OPRV and am still having oil pressure issues. When warm the oil just falls off once it reaches 4bar. Here's the part that breaks my heart. I have at least $6000 worth of receipts in the last year. If I am to sell it, what can I honestly hope for in value? It's an 86 951 w/ turbo cup suspension. The only engine mods are a Vitesse chip, tial 38mm, and mbc. The engine likely needs a rebuild. The chassis is good other than the roof, which could use paint. The interior is a solid 8 or 9. I am house hunting and don't know if I can justify the $5k+ it's going to take to make this thing right. I need a drink.

what do you mean falls off when warm at 4 bar. When my car is warm it idles at 3.5- you mean 4 is the max pressure you can see when warm? What weight oil?

I'm sure you have it covered but what weight oil are you using? Any ugly noises other than a drop in OP? How many miles?

No ugly noises that I can here. I am using 10w/40 synthetic. The oil pressure, when the car warms up, builds to 4bar and then just drops suddenly. 4bar is about the max I see when warm. I also had some variation in pressure, but that was resolved with the new OPRV. I have approximately 160,000 miles now.

I believe that was done as well.

FWIW my gauge was continually giving me strange readings. I installed a mechanical gauge to verify what was really going on and found all the issues were electrical either in gauge cluster or with the sender.

Double check the receipt, they are 2 different parts, but both affect the oil pressure, especially when the engine warms up...

99% of the time my oil pressure "maxes" out around 4bar when warm. (usually within a needle width of 4) ~5K rpm, which is apparently within factory spec. I was worried too, all of my previous 944s ran @ 5bar oil pressure anything above 3K rpm, but the FSM says its OK....

I will check the receipts. However, upon another talk with the mechanic, there apparently was some metal found underneath the oil cap as well.

How in the world does metal get under the oil cap, that's a long route. Did your oil drain plug have anything more than fuzz on it?

Ok, that was funny. I actually found a house out here w/ a 5 car garage! Now, that's a start! I have a hunch that I am going to eventually use this as an excuse to build a 3liter. I may have to just let the car rest for awhile.
