Default 60-2 Fidanza flywheel for 951. Made One

Solved my crank signal issue.
Any other available option has failed me. This solves so many problems at once it's ridiculous.

Uses factory sensor, sensor bracket, and location. One reliability problem solved baby! (Pretty much one of only two known)

Edit: Read carefully..This ring is off a 968.... It pops off the flywheel for a 968. It can be machined on like this.. but the optimal way is to make one less deep so as to not have to cut into the pressure plate threads like this one has done.
A ring that won't have to machine into the Aluminum flywheel pressure plate threads is being made. .

It's good to know a good CNC machinist.

How much for an identical ring?

The ring eats up the CNC bit. So it's not cheap.

This is actually a ring off off a 968 flywheel!!! It just pops off. It's not a good match though. It's too thick and would eat into the pressure plate threads. This is what is in the picture, but a new ring is in the works and will be made to be not as "deep" and will pose no issue for the threads.

This was a prototype. I need one now, and I'm going to use it. But I'm having the newer, better fit 60-2 Steel ring made. My flywheel friction plate is gettig thin, and I will need a newer one soon anyway.

That's happening now. the ring in the picture is off a 968 flywheel. Pops off. So to answer your question,...almost.

I kinda can't believe no one has done this before. It seems so simple.
But. I wouldn't have figured it out unless I had bought the 968 motor.

944S and S2's both use 60-2 trigger wheels and have a cam sync. I am pretty sure they are built into the S and S2 flywheels though. I never had a 968 flywheel off, so it obviously is not.

Have you tried to pull it off? Screwdriver and hammer. I'm curious. It doesn't look like they are a separate piece. But once you start prying...

I was thinking about it, but just as getting a 968 Fidanza.... Those are pricey though.

very nice work. at one time I was doing the same thing to be able to use the 951 PP and clutch with the NA starter ring to get a better clutch in that car (different ring gear teeth qty).

Ended up with a centerforce clutch and PP instead, that has seemed to hold up better than some of my other choices in the 951 car

968 / S2 flywheels use a smaller diameter pressure plate....
BTW - let me know if you want to make some extra rings....I might just have a use for them!

I don't have an S/S2 flywheel here, but I am fairly certain that they were machined/cast in the flywheel.

I had a link but can't seem to find it, the place trigger wheels, using waterjet. I am with Chris, if you are able to get several, I would be interested in one.
