Sean's tires are hard as rocks. You can spin them easily in 1st. I did it about three times just because it's fun feeling that little Tial turbo spool.

That turbo does hit hard, but it flattens out at above 5K. It's still pulling, but that seat of the pants tq hit doesn't hold past 5K, but it's still pulling baby. It's a nice setup, but a slightly larger cold side might be just a little better.

I'll hopefully be running 295/30/18's on my turbo come later this year. I had ran my 285/30/18's off my S2 on the turbo and it would hardly spin with them unless the road had a bit of dirt or dust on it. I'm hoping I don't end up with a car that likes to spin through 1st and 2nd!
They hooked pretty well.

haha...that bold part cracked me up when I first read it.

Very good information to know though.

I like the fact that the Vitesse keeps pulling past 5k. That's where I won a lot of races with my car. Not so much the turbo kept pulling past 5k (just the car itself). Where most cars would be into 3rd gear at under 65mph...I wasn't shifting to 3rd until 70mph. 944's have some pretty long gears, and a turbo that takes advantage of that is right up my alley.

Sean and my cars are actually surprisingly similar -- at least, at their cores. Supporting and ancillary mods may be differ, but here are the important parts:

My car, I'd estimate to be at ~315rwhp, maybe more. John (Vitesse), any thoughts? Here are the most important modifications:
--Vitesse Stage III running 15psi now with a good tune (at least, at full throttle) -- fast and reliable.
--Ported intake ports w/ a 5-angle valve job (or was it three? pretty sure it's five -- PO had it done not too long ago)
--SFR 3" exhaust with Quiet Flow muffler
--Tial WG

--350# springs, 30mm T-bars, koni yellows

Sean's car:
--Tial setup (with Vitesse MAF and SMT6 and the new thing Vitesse came out with -- can't remember the name!), running 18psi -- ask him about the state of tune
--head w/ ported intake ports, bad exhaust ports.
--SFR 3" exhaust with Bullet muffler (or, whatever the name is) but with SFR 3" DP
--Tial WG

--325# springs, 30mm T-bars, koni yellows

I'd wager both cars weigh the same, and that both motors are in similar condition -- quite good. Neither consume much oil.
here you go

Just checking in on this thread. I am considering going for a smaller turbo than my current VR stage 5. It's just a bit too big for my 2.5L
From the looks of it, the VR stage 2/3s are similar in some respects to the GT3071. I am thinking more of the GT3076 to fall between
my current turbo and the GT3071. Has anyone done a GT3076 yet?

The 3076R is the old "GT30R" which a few people has done.
That is the turbo I would pick for a 2.5l that sees over 18 psi.
Along with a 0.63 a/r T3 turbine housing.

TiAL only have 1.06 A/R turbine housing for the their GT30 turbos. is this to big for our 2.5L engines looking for 1bar @ 3000 rpm

on another page on their website says build your own.

what would be good for 15psi @ 3000 rpm and to hold atleast 20 psitill 6500rpm?

TiAL build your own turbo

Paulyy, TiAl has all housings for the GT30. You just need to contact them. A gt3076 with .82 a/r would be fine. The .63 would be a VERY quick turbo.

Depending on your HP goals, check with pg333pg(above posts^). He may have some options for you as he may be changing his turbo out and he lives near by(kind of).

It would probably spool 15 by 33-3400 and hold way more boost than you can run until redline.
