GM ECU cannot do this as all of the required parameters are different (number of sensors, required resonance frequency etc).

GM uses knock sensors. You would just used the GM sensors.

You would not use the DME or KLR. The only bad part about not using the KLR is that the factory boost gauge in the dash would not work. The thing is pretty much useless anyway so it's not really that big a deal.

It does not matter which knock sensors you use with GM ECU. ECU's are calibrated per engine, each engine has its own knock frequency that depends on the cylinder diameter for most part. Also each car ECU has to be calibrated so the ECU can distiguish the normal engine noise from the knock, that means setting gains etc for each cylinder.
If that can be done with GM ECU, then it would work, otherwise no.

For those who put in a stand alone like VTEC 44 or a Link G4, how does it do anti knock? I wouldn't think they have the software resident in the KLR?

I'm going to a stand alone and think I'll go down this path.

Raceboy hit the nail on the head. If the knock sensor frequency can be determined and matched with GM ecu, then the rest will fall into place. Dinsdale and I are discussing the GM LS ecu for the 928 engine as opposed to megasquirt. We just MS3 pro'ed the V12 Enigma swap and have full sequential ignition and injection as well as VVTi working with the knock frequency that the Jap engine puts out. LS1 torque right off idle is insane.

I put a final tune video on YT under XSchop.

We took the train on a 100 mile data logging trip. Its like a nimble freight train with the smooth low end torque.
