Pete, thanks for posting this chart.

Basically it means openings in the front panel are useless?

A vented nose is around point 9 in the chart, which is subjected to positive pressure.

Things to consider when building a custom front mount IC are:

1. Airflow through the core stays high enough to cool the rad, a common mistake is to go too thick or too use too fine a core, you need a reasonably coarse core to let lots of air through.
2. A large enough air window into the IC tubes for your hp needs to avoid the IC becoming too much of a restriction.
3. The requirements of your turbo i.e. is it a smallish turbo making a fair amount of heat on high boost or a larger more efficient turbo that does not produce so much heat.

An IC that is too large will simply create more lag than benefit gained from its cooling. An IC that is too small or flows badly will also be bad news.

There are many factors at play but make sure you measure your intake temps or you will never know what works.

Ok so how do you make these calculations?

As an example I have a T04B 54 trim with a #8 hotside plan to run 18 psi. How can I determine what I need in terms of intercooler?

assuming the 924 chart applies to a turbo car, it appears that the 931 style vents would be in a high pressure spot . Looking at dot 9 on the car (obviously before dot 10) and looking at the data on the graph it shows that area having an uberdruckbereich of over .4...

(lol)

however if the vents were any higher, say, level with the badge they would be in a low pressure area, dot 10.

Dyno chart from 8 years ago! The testing was done at 18 psi with the stock intercooler. We installed our intercooler with no changes to anything. Boost dropped by 1 psi and we still seen an increase in torque and horsepower. On Goerge D's 500+ WHP car our MAT's were in the high 120's which is pretty outstanding considering we were dynoing in 110+F weather and there is very little airflow over the intercooler on a dyno.We have had customers report to us that some of the other intercoolers out there would allow upto 150F MAT on tracks such as Laguna Seca,Lime Rock,etc......With our intercooler MATS were kept in check in 120F range or below.Pretty dramatic difference.

Tim, was the above chart done with your full-up intercooler replacement? Do you have any charts with just the end tank mod (before/after)?

Dyno chart is for full replacement. We ran the car on the dyno withthe stock intercooler and did the swap right there and then ran it a few times to get everything up to temp and the overlaid the two charts.

No charts for just the mod to stock endtank.
