But I will say you can do some upgrades to a stock 951 engine to get you a "safely " 330-390HP for a fraction of the cost but if you go into the realm of 500+ the money must come out and some will wish they had a pocket that is bottomless

Can I suggest my dream .......I have seen cayenne S engines for sell on ebay round 3k That will be a BITCHING conversion if I do say so myself and it's still PORSCHE. I have dealt with Renagade hybrids before and they where very rude to me for some 930 things. Glad to see they have gotten better bout things.

Holy crap... what is eating you man? I think you should stop posting and actually go try to build something.. luckily the mods have given you a little help with that.

Some people might kill me for saying this and of course it's just my opinion, but if you want a 3000lb car with an LS and a transaxle, go buy a C5 for 12000 bucks and there ya go. Cheaper in the long run and you dance around singing about how reliable and fast it is.

Yeah, I made almost 350whp @ 21psi with nothing but a bigger turbo, basic supporting mods, and johns MAF kit.

agreed. Besides we aren't saying the motor costs 20-30k to build we are saying the entire car does. Dropping that motor in that car without addressing all the other issues is pointless and won't last. We all know that and for some reason he got really hung up on the money.

In the end those of us who have owned these cars and built them know that it really isn't cheep to do. Even if you do all your own work parts get pricey. I think anyone thinking they can buy a cheep 944 or 951 and make 400hp and drive it daily has another thing coming. I've got a ton of money in my car and its nothing special. Lots out there have just as much invested.

Its not about the money at the end of the day though. Its all in how you feel about it. We love these cars and wouldn't trade them for anything. I think this guy is trying to build something cheep that meets his needs and that would work. Unfortunately his needs are more than his budget.

You can't build any kind of serious 400-500hp reliable 944 turbo for 5-10k. It just isn't going to happen.

Yeah I hear you John. I just think his responses were odd. Guess he didn't want to hear the cold hard facts, but he was pretty bent on that guy who could do the V8 tranplant for $8k or whatever it was. Let him do it and find out for himself.

Hell, you can't own a 4-500hp ANYTHING, that's worth owning, and safe/reliable, for cheap.

Sometimes folks don't really want the true answers to their questions. Pre-conceived notions tend to cloud good judgement. No harm no foul...THIS time.
