Default How to roll a fender like a champ... kinda

I'm in the middle of this job. Needed quite a bit more room to fit the new wheels and maintain the same low ride height.... bigger size, more aggressive offset.

It's my first time doing this and I can already see a few areas I could do better, but I suppose that's how you learn. I'm getting rid of the stock crease in the wheel arch as well.

I've gotten this far with a blowtorch, a crowbar, and a mallet/anvil.

Once I get everything roughly into position I will sand, put on some body filler/glaze then take it to paint.

It looks like the fender is really dented from the process in the last pi, but it's not. Just the way I was holding the light.

I just started working on that crease a few minutes ago. It still has about another 2 hours worth of work on it.

I will post mroe detailed "Write up" type pics once I get a better camera running. The complicated part is the transitional area. Spent about 3 hours on that.

Here is one of the rear wheels

I'm about to head north for a bit of skiing, but I managed to get rid of one uneven patch in the center. Now the horizontal protrusion is a bit less pronounced, but it's got the same amount of room under there. Worked on the crease a bit as well, and it is looking good. Using clamps and an anvil I have been able to get the surface smooth enough that I will barely need any filler, just a bit of glaze and hit it with some 600 on the DA.

I'm actually astonished at how well it's coming along. My fenders were already torn up and cut when I started with all this, so I figured it was worth an effort, and if it didnt work then I would just raise the car a bit and pick up some used replacements, but it looks like it's going to work out fine!

Cool man, I'm in the same boat but trying to fit 16x8 et -8 on the rear. I need paint anyways so I might have to roll with some brute force.

There are easier ways than what I did, although the rear is a real beast to mess with.

When I do the other side i'll do a full write up.

Yeah I had to chisel out all the stupid weather coating crap. It takes a lot of force to move the fender lip too. It's a pain in the *** to be under there too.

There was a guy on the 928 boards that rolled his fenders with a wooden dowel, wedged between the tire and the fender lip. Worked quite well and provided the amount of space he needed. Just made the car look a little wider around the fenders.
