GT3 Brakes on 951S
Yes, talk to Pete95zhn. He did it on his former 951 (RIP)
We ordered adapters for two cars. We should have also several other setups ready at the machine shop, have to check out.
Full adapter setup for late ET 220hp 951 & S2 & 968 (work with GT3 MK I & MK II, GT2, 996/997 Turbo front calipers and GT3 rear calipers)
Pete's calipers before the crash
Pete's front calipers after the crash
Pete's setup under Heikki's 1986 951 converted to late ET
The whole project story of Pete's 951 can be found from here:

I suppose all of you can a little Finnish
At least a lot of pictures

Olli, when are you getting those adapters for the late cars?

Patrick,
as we have discussed earlier adapter for late cars is quite tricky to build and we do not have our own need for such a adapter, we have not rushed this issue.
I suppose the easiest way to do this to late ET cars is to use Cayenne Turbo calipers with suitable adapters. Those Cayenne calipers have axial attchment points, so they would require adapters which are designed the opposite way compared the adapters we are currently using.

I've got some good axial mount race calipers here pat that would also mount up pretty easy i could probly mount them in a couple of months when we get the mill sorted out .
Olli do you know if those mounts would complete my set up i have 996 gt3 rotors and I think older radial mount calipers i have a 86 set of front spindles but also 968 axial mount front spindles

Older Brembos have different distance on those attachment bolt holes compared to newer Monoblocks. Our adapters work only with Monoblocks. With 968 spindles, 996 GT3 rotors and suitable calipers our adapters works fine
Here several Brembos i have owned (including Pete's GT2 calipers). Black 951 baby Brembo is there to compare the size of another calipers.

Olli,
Nice work on adapting the GT3 brakes to a 951.
What rotors are you running front and rear? How much are the adapter brackets and what is the round ring in the picture for? Does the car pictured use 996 GT3 Calipers front and rear? Most importantly, how does it work?
Thanks!
Tom

Front rotors are 996 Turbo and rear ones are 996 GT3. Round adapter is for handbrake shoes, otherwise handbrake shoes will not line up with GT3 rotors handbrake shoe drum, rotor offset is different than 951's have. Adapters are quite expensive, around 700€, including all the parts which can be seen from the picture. Total cost was around 3K€, only Ferodo brake pads cost 500€ while their list price was over 700€.
These brakes work just great with OEM master cylinder.
New version of this adapter is made from one piece and does not have any weldings.
Pete's and mine GT2/GT3 combo with Tommy's moped brakes (Big Yellows (Blacks)) with 951S OEM rear calipers
Pete's first setup. When i managed to buy two sets of GT2 front calipers, Pete bought one set from me and sold these GT3 MK I calipers. These calipers work also with our adapters.

I started with 5/33 bias valve I had with 951S F/951 R set-up, but that was outright dangerous because of larger rear discs. With std bias valve brake balance is excellent. I had an oppoturnity to switch between a GT3 mkII and my own car at same track, and I must say that there were no significant difference in either pedal feel of deceleration. GT3's owner was also impressed. As a matter of fact all the bits and pieces from my wreck are going into his racer.
No need to change master cylinder or brake booster.
About the cost. My first adapter set ( all 6 ), prototypes, cost €1k. Front calipers can be found from evilbay for less than $1k, front discs are here around €800,- , Ferodo racing pads €700,- ( four corners ) and so on... IMO the most cost effective solution would be GT3 mkI front calipers and discs with std rear brakes and a 5/33 bias valve. With decent pads and 968's cooling scoops. Then there's no need for parking brake spacers needed with GT3's discs. But if one want's to go big, then these. I just read from RennTech that 997 turbo's front discs are a bolt-on to 996 turbo's hubs with GT3 mkII's calipers, so I guess that those discs would be more affordable than these.
I do have another complete set, which will be installed to my next car.

What diameter are the 996TT rotors? Do you offer the adapters for sale? Thank you for the information that you have posted it is very informative. I currently have big blacks up front and std rear with a 33/5 bias valve on my LS1 V8 968. Can I run just the front GT3 6 pod caliper and rotor with the stock rear using your front adapter?

Tom

Are those adaptors made from aluminum or steel?
