Default Did my mech put wrong oil in car?

I cut an oil line last week and took the car to our local garage to have them fix the line. I checked the bill and it says he put 5w-30 in the car. Is this right?! Should I change it? If so to what?

+1. I'd say the vast majority of guys on here use 20w50 but it can vary depending on your location and what kind of driving/winter weather you're heading into.

yeah, 20w-50. I don't think it will hurt your car as long as you don't rev the **** out of the motor. You might read lower than normal oil presure.

Just switch it out whenever you get the chance. Its not like its gonna get up to 90 degrees up here anytime soon so that 5-30 should be fine until you get some new juice in it.

I always ran that car on 20w-50 so you shouldnt have any problems.

20w50 is what I just switched too after running 10w30. Oil pressures are much more stable. In most instances, when shops dont know what oil a car will take, thay use 5w30/10w30. I have customers that request 14w40 or 20w50 because that's what they want. That's what u need to do.

if it's a Porsche shop and they put 5w30 in it. BURN THE BUILDING DOWN.
