Brian, do you remember the size of that flex joint? I am debating modifying a set of stock headers or simply going with the stage 1 from SFR. I would want to put a flex joint on both the #1 and #2 runners to help prevent cracking, aswell as weld up the flanges like you had done on yours. I figure the welding alone would run me about $100-150 aswell as the 2 flex joints (about $50 each). At that point the stage 1 headers are only $1000 away.... . Also was the welding work MIG or should i take it to a place that can TIG weld them?

I have a #1 / #4 section with a damaged bellows (i was not careful when removing) and would need to cut that out to make them usable anyhow. My spare #2 / #3 section has a very light crack developing around the flange, visible from the inside. I should probably cut the heatshields off and take a look at the welds where they merge together also. These stock headers are such a pain!

I really need to smoke test my exhaust, im very curious to see how the spare set of headers i bought are holding up. I was getting about 1-bar at 2700rpm on my 26/6 with MAF. I assume they are in good shape, but as i wait for the smoke to build up in the system its going to feel like an eternity.

I guess I have that image of the hotside glowing red stuck in my head and as the cold side is only a few inches away I thought it might get pretty hot too.

Are you keeping A/C with a 4" intake on the cold side?

Why are you reducing Waqqas? You can fit the 4" intake, just, but you have to move the alt. There is a bracket available.

You may also need to modify the TB as the spring will likely touch the 4" hose on the compressor side.

I am thinking about this as my new turbo also has a 4" intake on the cold side.

I think it was a 2" ID one. There was a size close to the ID of the headers that they used.

I pressure tested my headers using some chunks of aluminum that I drilled holes in, then bolted to the headers with gaskets. Then I pressurized the header section with a schreader in one of the aluminum bits. Then I just sprayed soapy water and watched for bubbles from leaks.

Patrick, I'm reducing because my MAF is only 3".
PS I already have the bracket that deletes the AC and moves the alt lower
