W, save a mall amount of wrap for the exhaust just below the cv shaft.

I noticed a pretty drastic change in temp of the shaft/rubber by doing this. Has to help prolong the joint I would think.

My cover required some additional clearance, so I used washers as spacers. 9 washers, i.e., 3 per bolt.

While prepping to wrap headers I felt something loose. Opened them up only to find.....

Check the stock bellows. If you flex it and you can hear or feel a grinding as it moves, the bellows is broken. IMHO for any stock headers, I would proactively do the following:

Weld the tube to plate joints. Compare this pic to yours and youll see what I mean. I had multiple leaks out of these spots.




And replace the bellows with a modern flex section.

The problem is that that kind of flex bellow doesn't take 900+ C EGT very well..

The performance shop that did the work for me told me that this one was designed for turbo situations like this, which is why it was more expensive.
