Pucks and Shims ....
New car for me - 1991 944s2. Pulling the pads, I found the "vibration suppressor" pucks installed. I also found what looks like a shim glued to the back of the old brake pads.
Questons -- What is this shim? I don't see it in the catalog. Is it the "damping plate"? Do I need it and where can I get it? All I see are expensive titanium plates on pelican and paragon.
And for the puck, should I glue (or 3m double sided tape per the manual) this to the new pad before slipping it in? (This post indicates keeping the puck is a good idea for squeal.)
