Those are some big brakes! Did you change the bias valve or the master? How is the pedal feel?

Factory rotors come with the gray centers, and will stay that way based on my experience. My rotors are 10 years old and still gray, no rust. I have heard this from others as well.

The brakes feel great. After bleeding them, I pumped the pedal a few times, bled them again - that's when I got some little air bubbles. I just got back from driving it a bit, brakes feel great and I left the rears alone; pedal travel seems normal. I do have an exta mc from a BMW 7 series, but it's in the track car trailer but, so far so good.

The weight is on the "eye candy" thread...IIRC, 20.?? per rotor.
I used a procedure off StopTechs site that I had saved. Basically, 10ea, 60mph to 10mph, hard brakes but with no lock up, cool down period of a few minutes of driving and do it again. I only got the car down to about 18-20 before it wanted stall out. You'll get massive smell on about #5 braking and stays there until the cool down periods. Just went to the grocery store, tried em out on the back way to my house - they should serve the 2.8L well when it gets finished.

Bret - looks great. I had a brand new set of big reds and ended up selling them a couple years back because I already had S4 calipers - I could kick myself now. I always use the Hawk procedure which calls for a 80 - 10 stop. I can't beleive my neighbors haven't called the cops on me since I am usually doing this at midnight before a track event.

I usually start with several strong drinks. If that doesn't do the trick, I may have to resort to shots of tequila, only if absolutely necessary. If there is still resistance, I will then spout of about how much money I make and that I can take her anywhere in the world. That usually does the trick for my bed-in process.

YMMV

My favourite subject
Bret, nice set up. Those are brakes are more tahn enough for our cars. If you want to add some "bling-bling" factor then add these:

Here's Pete & my GT2/GT3 combo with Tommy's ex Big Blacks (now Big Yellows) with original 951 rears.

Now i am just waiting for Patrick's comments

mj, my mistake, I put the weight in the brake not cheap thread.

"calipers weigh 8.72# ea and the rotors weigh 20.57# ea." On average, about 3# heavier(ea) than the previous brake parts.
