In terms of a direct upgrade the Big Blacks/Reds are the best bang for buck option as the weight doesn't go up much at all yet the swept pad area goes up a LOT and they're pretty cheap.

ok, after 40 days...either I bedded in the Mintex too hard or I didn't take the advice of a RL'r, who told me to get the anti squeal pads to insert in the caliper piston. The brake squeal below 40mph in town was FK"G BAD. So bad I didn't drive the car at all this week until the anti squeal inserts and new Pagid S pads came in. After two days, all is good.

Sunset has these for 3.84 ea, so for $32, get em if you upgrade. Paragon has the Pagid S pads on sell too.

Final report from me on this. After another week - on occasion, I might get just a bit of squeak on the first or second morning stop, understanding that I have two stop signs before getting out of my subdivision. However, even around town, after just a bit of heat, they're as silent as stock.

So is that with the anti squeal thingys or the Pagids, or both? I have noticed less squeal with the Pagid Blues than the PFCs.

hmmm...I think both but I screwed up the first pads I think by doing a very aggressive bed in which was a track pad procedure on a street pad. For as cheap as the pucks are, I don't think you can go wrong getting them, not to mention I was advised to get them before I did this.

Hmm, I get pretty bad squeal out of my big reds on my 86. I've got the anti-squeal pads and hawk HP Plus pads. Everything was new (x-drilled rotors). They only make noise @ 40 to 60 % pedal pressure below 25MPH and 100% of the time while braking and turning below 30.

They seem to get worse when coming to a stop next to a real pretty girl in a nice car of one of my co-workers. It's been driving me nuts.

That's the scenerio I was in. I got the pagid S pads, drove the car for about 30 minutes, then did some mild stops from 80 to 30, drove 20 minutes and then did a couple of more, that was it. So far so good but I have to go to work today.

whats the latest ski how is the front rear Bias when pushed hard on the track ?
the 7 series master is it a stepped bore unit?
i have the same parts as you at home but i have extra calipers and things and on paper it seems to increase front bias a bit

Those dampeners are only for the rears. Big black fronts should take M030 dampening plates (2 per caliper) consisting of metal backing plates with welded steel pucks that fit into the caliper piston gaps. These plates are reusable, btw.

The part description is hazy in PET so it's easy to mix up the part numbers and get an oversized version. I have a new set at home that I can check the part numbers from on Monday if anyone is interested.

interesting...yes, I'd like the part numbers, thanks Luis. This little tid bit came up no where when I was researching the squeal.
