Big Blacks on.

I've just got the same set of rotors to go onto my car Ski, but from what I've read my next ones after these will be a set of slotted rotors ala PFC or AP etc. Guess it depends on the cracks? The good thing about these is the price & I hope to rid some of my brake issues that might be put down to the gasses between solids and pads. Have you had much more time with them in any anger?

car doesn't get to the track, the black one, but on the track car we've had no issues with the brakes with running a standard MC, BB up front, standard 944T in the rear - DE track car. Now, if you run larger rear calipers, I could see where you would need one. For racing, not DE, that's whats always been said about upgrading the MC.
I upgraded the brakes on the black car ahead of the 2.8 engine upgrade. The standard brakes are very good, I just wanted more. Patrick, I was going to take the car out this morning but there's just to much moisture in the air to have any fun - streets are damp, things are cooling off so tomorrow should be a good day for it. The brakes are wonderful and I've pushed the car a bit harder in spots where I had some fun with it and the brakes did their job very well.
I'm picking up the track car on Thursday, the last items of this expenditure will see if we hit the track in the fall.

Sure thing, Bret. I got wrapped up in work and forgot about this thread. Part number is: 951.351.089.03. A pair of big blacks should take 4 of these -2 per caliper. HTH.
NOTE: By big blacks I understand you mean the standard 1988-1991 944 Turbo M030 brake calipers. If yours are larger, the dampener plates will be different. I can find that part number as well if you need it, since I bought those first by mistake.

The Big blacks are the same size as Big reds. They were on the 928S4 and the 993TT. The damper P/N you gave will not fit them.

Unless the parts counter made a mistake again and ordered the wrong ones, when they should've ordered these:

Olli, do you agree that the plates for my '91 Turbo would be the part number 951.351.089.04 (252 and 338 mm)?

With the size of those pistons, he'll definitely benefit from dampeners with pucks instead of the standard spring shims. I know my M030 fronts with pucks are much quieter than my 944S2 fronts with shims.

Pucks and Shims ....
New car for me - 1991 944s2. Pulling the pads, I found the "vibration suppressor" pucks installed. I also found what looks like a shim glued to the back of the old brake pads.
Questons -- What is this shim? I don't see it in the catalog. Is it the "damping plate"? Do I need it and where can I get it? All I see are expensive titanium plates on pelican and paragon.
And for the puck, should I glue (or 3m double sided tape per the manual) this to the new pad before slipping it in? (This post indicates keeping the puck is a good idea for squeal.)

A bit more reading and indeed these are vibration shims or anti-squeal pads. It seems like many are leaving these off and running with just some hi-temp grease on the backs of the pads. Of course, with the many piston/dust cap/seal change from 87 on, it is tough to see what everyone is talking about.
I'm thinking reuse the vibration suppressor pucks. I'm not sure if I should double stick tape them to the new pagids orange pads or leave them loose. Probably tape them? If I do that, then noise suppressing grease on the back doesn't sound like a good idea.
