Please Help-Anybody using LR MAF and Zeitronix WBO2?
Just installed the Lindsey MAF
According to my Zeitronix it's not giving it hardly any fuel, but after a while sitting it will find idle. Give it gas and it's all rough again and AFR in the 20s.
I just came inside and looked on the LR site and found this:
"All of the above meter kits require a piggy back fuel controller. We have both our Mafterburner and Power Perfect to choose from."
So.. it won't even run w/o it???... great...
Luckily I have the MAFterburner stuff...

It's pretty straight forward, you can tap all the wires with the vampire clamps to get it running then come back and solder later. You only cut one wire in the DME harness, IIRC #7 but it's been a while - then you use two wires on the Mafterburner, one goes to the engine #7, the other goes toward the DME #7.

Well, I assumed it would run without the "tuning" piece.....
Now, will it run without hooking the MAFterburner up to a laptop the first time?

Referring to the LR instructions (Wiring Diagram Porsche 951 DME/KLR)
Can I just Tee into the Wideband 1-4V wire, and the ground wire of my Zeitronix wiring harness?
Or do I need to Tee in between the WB Oxygen sensor and the Zeitronix?
TIA

Yes, 951MAX chips from Russell
We used the multimeter and figured out which wires on the WB O2 have 1-4 volts and ground and spliced into those. No difference what-so-ever. Idles at about AFR=21:1, give it gas, stumbles. Goes a bit richer than 21:1 for a second then leans back up.

I've double checked every wire color and dme pin location.
It's either a problem with the MAF unit itself, my WB02 to MAFterburner wiring, or every Porsche I own is a pain.
After working on it from 10a.m. till 10:30p.m. it's time to be done!
Goodnight!

If you have the download for the Zietronix, then you can tap into the signal wire. If not, just use the display + and - wires to get your display working on the laptop screen. Then, when you go to WB config, you can select different sensors to get you close or spot on with your display, and use the slide bar for a small voltage adjustment to get it perfect. Use the jumper on the Mafterburner to get the car started, it should run with the MAX chips in it. The jumper basically reconnects wire 7, which you cut and reterminated into two seperate wires, all others should have just been tapped.

Nordschleife Master
A piggyback is a signal massager. Running it with blank settings will give you the same results as running without it.
But, now with everything hooked up you can connect to the piggyback using the laptop and adjust the settings to get more fuel.

Thanks everyone for the help so far.
As Duke suggests, the car has run exactly the same terrible way since we installed the MAF, no change after intalling the MAFterburner main wiring loom, or the MAFterburner WBO2 wiring loom.
The WBO2 did display correctly for almost a year; I hooked up my Zietronix back then, and a little later put in my 951MAX chips (which are written for a MAF... I was told the only affect of running them with an AFM would be running a little rich)
Sounds like I need to try the laptop tuning.

Double check all your hoses; AOS and IAS, also throttle body hose on intercooler pipe. Have you double checked the wiring on the MAF harness? Where are you getting the 12v from for the MAF. If diagnostic port, verify that you are getting the correct voltage. For some reason, some of these cars, the diagnostic port does not give 12v after the car is started but will read 12v with the key on.

Hoses are right....
MAF harness is right according to the wire colors on the Lindsey instructions BUT the wires aren't in the same positions on the factory AFM plug as they are drawn on the Lindsey instructions.
We are getting 12V (switched) from the diagnostic port... Just took the fuse out and jumpered straight to the battery, still runs the same...
We're trying to locate a 9pin serial to USB adapter...
Thanks!

Is anyone using a LR MAF / MAFterburner and the Zietronix WBO2?
Do you remember where you tapped into the Zeitronix for WBO2 signal for the MAFterburner?
We used a multimeter and found which pin had between 1-4 Volts signal and which was ground...
Still haven't found a serial 9 pin ----- USB adapter
