A genuine Garrett T70 is capable of that kind of power, I have seen 750WHP on a Supra with a T66. Its a 10 second car. Im sure he was a fool and you were awesome though

Well yeah they can make huge power no doubt, but so can any large displacement motors. They are 4.0 afterall. Mines not the 2JZ though, I went 1UZ alloy 4.0 toyota motor... should make decent power

Just installed a gt3071r with a bolt in turbine housing.
I saw 16.5 psi at 2600 and it held to redline. This is with out of the box tuning from vitesse. I think it can improve. It is VERY drivable and makes solid power across a large RPM span.

He has a V8 4.L on his supra or it should be 4.7L like my 928 killer land cruiser.

thanks for the dyno chats lart! Interesting leaking exhaust and all to see a 14hp gain for 3psi. Do you think the leaks where bad enough that, that was the cause or the turbo was just running outta steam?

I'll call the guy installing my motor and if he can modify the downpipe to fit a aftermarket turbo i'll look into a GT garrett. My question would be how hard is it to do that? Do I just buy a 3inch downpipe and then have him make some sort of adapter or something?

so you bought a k series turbine housing? I see that option on the website. Would that just bolt right up to my existing downpipe?

In order to install the GT30R in my car we had to modify crossover pipe by extending it a couple of inches. We also fabricated a new 3 inch downpipe to get around clearance issues. We also had to use the grinder to remove a bracket from the turbo that was interfering with the steering column.

I had the work done and was just shown the end result.

In my case the top portion of the crossover was modified for the steering column clearance. Also I hear the oem downpipe has no fitment issues.

sounds like its very involved. May have to bow out at this point. I guess we will see how my call with him go's I'm just as comfortable buying a lindsey turbo that will bolt right up.

It makes no difference to me much but, if the garrett turbos really are that much better at spooling then why not drop the extra money. I'm already waaaaaaaaaay over budget at this point.

motor for 5k. HA what the hell was I thinking.

A few questions I saw earlier in the thread that haven't been answered yet

At what boost does the k27/6 run out of steam? What boost can it hold to redline?

How do you know if a K27/6 has the 7200 compressor?

Where can you buy this turbo?

Quick Reply: k27/6 or a lindsey super??
