Default For Those Running 18's - Tower Strut ??

Is the installation of the tower strut really noticeable? And by noticeable I mean in the feel of the car or demonstrated on paper. Views from folks that have pre bar and post bar experiences on the same tire/wheel combo would really be appreciated.

Last summer I was taking tasty twisties with just a bit of rear pass rub, this year I'm getting a slight rub up front off of stuff from the kid's menu.

Should I have posted this in the 944 forum?

Hi there, I have not run my 951 without a bar, but in other cars I've had the difference was noticeable. Better control in corners, especially over less than 100% smooth pavement.

Obviously, the bigger difference was on the car with the weaker chassis, so on an aged 951, it should help I would think.

I run 17s and there is a HUGE difference in the steering feel!!! Much better with the brace.

BTW, I thought it was a waste of money when I bought it until I installed it.

Kevin,

I noticed zero improvement with it on my car. I have 18's and it gets pushed hard frequently. I pulled it off and am installing it on my spec car. I believe there may be an improvement on a car that has additional grip (race tires) and had higher g's that may cause some shock tower deformation but otherwise I think they’re more of a placebo effect on the average streetcar.

on thing i did notice was the noticably stiffer tub after installing my redline bar. The car didnt seem squishy w/o it but when i put the bar in there and bolted it up, it was obvious that the car was alot tighter. This was in an 89 n/a that hadnt been wrecked and was pretty nice. I noticed less understeer on the autox w/ the strutbar than w/o.

Thanks Jeremy and Dan, those views are very similar to the stuff I've noted over the years. I'm just running Pzero's.

I'll add it to the cosmetic list, and if it impresses me, I'll follow this up.
