I've posted this before but listen to some sound, proven advice.

If you're not already, join PCA.

They offer a valuation service for all members.

You'll get an official PCA document in short order citing up to 10 nationally known sources (irrefutable), i.e., Hemmings, NYT classifieds, etc.

The only thing left debatable will be if your car compares to the claims you made on the PCA information form (online).

In other words, if you claim "excellent" condition, that's the cars that the PCA valuation will use to place your car's value.......whether or not the insurance co. agrees that your car is excellent condition is another matter.

I used a trophy and plaque that my son had won at a car show to back up my PCA valuation and got $10,500 for an '87 944S.

BTW Kevin, use any option you can to place your car among a more rare percentage of cars produced.

More clearly, let's say that for instance, out of all of the 944ts produced in 1988 that only 500 came with sports suspension option, use that to your advantage.

Thanks. I've already submitted for this form. Hopefully it helps too. The simple fact that the company used one car to compare to mine is complete and utter bull ****. This might be a battle, but I'm strapped in and ready to pull all the punches.

Check the car being sold by boost feen. It's freaking beutiful, and would make a great replacement. Then you could sell what parts you want and make out very well.

I tried this. An appriasal is useless at this point, as they can only appraise the car in its current condition.

They cant judge what it was like before they wreck.

I went to Carmax and had an aprraisal done and they said my car was worth 250 dollars after it was hit! Hooray!

Help me understand this since I've never had to total a car... So if they pay you for the car and the mods I'm guessing you can't take your mods? Also if they get the car do they just throw away the mods or what??

When they total the car, you own it as is , where it is. You can do whatever the hell you want with it.

Good luck,

Insurance companies suck ! ! !

I live in abject terror of something like this happening to my car.
