Excellence Mag- GDmit!!!! Another vented 944!!!
just got my Feb 08 copy of excellence and there is a pretty nice red turbo in there- usual mods. There it is - front and center- another damned vented nosepanel using the 924 turbo vents!!! I know not a big deal but the last big 944 article they had also featured a turbo w/ the same vents! I almost never see this done-unless i walk out to the garage- and theres two in the same magazine!!! I think its a conspiracy.... (joking people its a joke get it- haha... )

+ infinity...bring them to me now!
What's the story of that car? I never see Excellence in the shops here. Tell us what they say of both cars, but especially the Red one. Very cool.
Notice big front mount too.

Well without opening up that old can 'o' worms again, I think the venting can work provided you have an exit point pretty early on in the hood. Not so much for the i/c, more for the condenser (if you still run a/c) and the radiator. If you have some direct ducting from the back of the rad, up and through the hood like that race 924 that we all saw some months ago. That is the picture in my mind anyway. Lots of racers have a vented nose panel with vented hood.

well - as far as the nose venting goes- i vented the panel and left my ic ducting in there and drove on the track a few times. I started getting so much heat soak that the car would boost cut off at less than 10psi. Pulled the IC ducting to let the air coming in the nosepanel do its job- havent had a cut off since and the IC lines are cooler going to the intake. There are alot of theorists around that say the vents dont work, and maybe they arent efficient enough to be the only source of air to the IC but they do help improve flow. I had one on my n/a as well and it dropped the temp under the hood significantly.
the condenser sits like four inches below the vents in the nose- not sure how the vents would work for the condensor at all- IC sits directly behind the vented nosepanel. I do like the cut out front bumper on the red car- at least they did a good job. Notice it says he has a euro bumper and still has marker lights?

Maybe you should take it as a sign that your car will be featured in the mag one day?
At the very least, you can take pride in the fact that you welded and painted yours up yourself.
