Dan,
Without contravening any copyright laws, what's the gist of that red car and it's origins? Do we have any hope of finding some of those lights. Where is it and what's it's engine build?

So everyone says its not worth it unless you vent the hood to release the hotter air from passing through the intercooler (like a 968 turbo). Okay, I agree that would work better. But I can't imagine getting more air to the intercooler would hurt to keep intake air temps lower.
931 vents look awesome IMHO. I bought a 931 header panel myself with 2 extra inserts but I am affraid to butcher my stock 951 header panel to make it look right. Also, I am affraid to ruin a perfectly good 931 header panel. I'm not an auto body man.
Either way I plan on doing the 931 vents on my 951. I think its just about as pimp as 951 can look. Although I think a chin spoiler or splitter is nessassary to complete the look the right way.
Who can do the work and make it look right and how much would something like that cost? Anyone?

well the thing is that once you make the holes in the header panel the air is not forced through the intercooler any more. Its scattered. So there fore you have to direct it if you make the holes.

i have one wrecked 931 nose and a stock turbo panel in the garage that i need to graft together for another rennlister.

the car - cant remember where its located- but its 320-350rwhp estimated and the headlights were made by the owner- they made a wax template and formed fiberglass from that. Then made a lexan cover for the light and put it on- he's an engineer according to the mag. Lights were made because the intercooler and maf etc would not clear the linkages for the lights.

I'm using the front vents for my oil cooler that will be in place of the stock intercooler. We are front mounting a Spearco for direct air flow.

I'll let you know where my oil temps are with this setup as compared to the stock temps. Anyone else done this type of setup?

What seems like a good idea isn't always the case. There was quite a long thread re this about 3 months ago or so. Do a search, lot's of good info. Enough to say that without hood venting, you may create more problems than you solve.

It looks cool, yes I agree. Any proof it helps?. Why don't people just vent the hood like a 968 rs turbo. That makes sense.

Air in the nose, through the inter cooler and out the topside of the hood.

Where can we buy this hood?

Exactly. Apart from being fugly, that is the perfect example as used by the factory. Obviously there are other vents to be had out there too.

Okay, how about this. If you not only used the 931 style vents but made some type of duct that directed the air directly to the IC instead of having it wide open behind the vents. Kinda like ram air to the IC? Is that possible?

the problem is the airflow is going too fast over the contour of the car, so the vents are in a low pressure area and dont take in much air. Unless the vents stick out and catch the air not much is going to change that. I dont think that putting an excape route out of the hood is going to do much but it could possibly cause a ventui effect and pull air through the hole as opposed to being pushed through. Ive seen several race cars w/ the vent in the hood but they also have air being fed to that vent from a scoop down low in a high pressure area of the nose. That being said, every little bit counts.
