I think we're all a bit tired and emotional here. haha. No I was saying that ST should talk to NZ if he's interested in some piece of Jap car as they're much cheaper in New Zealand than in Australia. Jim check your atlas. We're not quite the same country. Not even joined to us like Canada is to you.

Wait til Andrew wakes up, he'll tell you. I'm not up on my Jap stuff.
Oh, and sure if we want something that goes fast and is cheaper the opportunity is here ok, it's just that we are fools who want to push these silly little forgotten i4 Porsches to their limits. Why, well we're not just Bastards. We're 'king idiots too. hahahha

You guys in USA have it so good you have no idea. I think Australians unfortunately have it worst!
I can’t believe that 997TT (same bloody car) costs in the States US $126,000.00 in Europe US $ 226,000.00 and in Australia US $310,000.00.
Absolutely horrific!

...997t costs now in Finland €223k = 312k in US$. After a slight chance in car taxes ( up from 26% to 36% + 22% VAT ) in the beginning of next year it'll be around €265k = 371k in banana republic currency...
Low emissions vehicles will have a tax of 10% and it'll gradually increase to 40%, when now all cars have the same 26%.

A big influence in why the car is cheap is the US is a big market alot manufactures will sacrifice price to get in and consider the price of a new hot vette or Viper .
If other contries got behind there groovy small run manufactures the pricees would be driven down .Elfin Westfeild. Arial.there is cool stuff being made every were
The American back them selfs and there consumers reap the rewards .
how are the options expenses in the US? here in Australia if you select all options you will more than double the price of any new Porsche

Yes well as Scott said an optioned 997tt is over $370k here and you can bet if you tried to import on from the US (lhd unfortunately) you would get slugged so much import duty in the name of protecting our local manufacturing industry (joke) that it wouldn't be worth it.

Actually Patrick, even with our import duty, luxury car tax, GST, exchange rate and shipping costs, the car would still be around 1/2 price. There are issues involved with import approval but they can be overcome by taking a nice O/S trip... the big issue is that it's LHD. Although I guess a conversion might not be as difficult as for a front engined car.

I have a feeling there are some rhd's in the Saudi countries that are also very cheap. That would be ideal.

How funny this thread was started. I just got off the phone with someone in my search for gearing. After it's all said and done, this new tranny I'm looking to get is going to cost some coin. Then I'd like to upgrade. As far as a TT comparison, at the level I'm at, I walk them all, even the GT2. I am so used to driving the high hp cars that after being in a 721 hp 930 that weighed 2500 lbs, a TT is not that big of a deal to me. I have more to say but I'm going to start a new thread. I hope you guys chime in...
