Default AIR Splitter Installation Tips

Just got my AIR splitter in the mail today, time to start figuring out how i'm going to mount this thing. I figure the two most obvious options are:

1. Drill small holes in splitter, use screws and retain the metal clips that are on the front nose peice to hold screws in just like the stock batwing set up (except put some washers on the screws so they don't rip through the splitter.

2.Get rid of metal clips for screws, drill holes in splitter to accept some descent sized bolts, and use a nut/bolt/washers combo to mount splitter, using the larger holes found in nose peice when metal clips are removed.

I have an extra front bumper(nose peice, whatever you wanna call it) in my shed, so luckily I won't have to take mine off the car to install this thing(well that's the plan anyway), I'm gonna use the extra one to mark out all the mounting holes.

What have you other guys done when installing splitters on your cars? What seems to be the best/strongest way to do it?

I know a bunch of other people on here just ordered a splitter, i'm sure they would like to get some tips on installation as well.

Thanks
Mike

I don't know about installation but I know a good tip for uninstallation, hitting a speed bump in the NAPA parking lot or driving up my driveway......

sorry, I couldn't help it

I removed the clips and used bolts/nuts/lockwashers. Probably overkill but I have scraped it more than a few times and it's still mounted solidly.

I had one on my 951. I cut (punches) 5/8" holes in the locations for the screws in the road-side of the splitter, then drilled holes and used the factory hardware to attach the splitter. You can buy Heyco snap in hole covers that completely close the 5/8" holes. Sorry, no pictures.

drill holes in the bottom and use the factory screws/clips. You'll be pulling it off so much to repair it that you dont want to make it too hard on yourself. Plus if you go overboard w/ large bolts and washers, you chance ripping the bottom of your bumper off instead of just the splitter. Been there done that.
