DIY ---> AIR Front Splitter installation
This is how I installed my AIR front spoilier. I have driven 300 miles and 130+mph with it installed. It has not budged.
1. To make sure the holes I drilled would allign with the stock bumper holes, I used a piece of masking tape:
2. I then alligned the AIR splitter and transferred the masking tape:
3. I could now drill a hole in the perfect spot (I did this about 7 times):
4. In order to put a screw in this hole, I would have to drill an addition hole on the lower tray of the AIR splitter:
5. I could now easily use a screw driver to secure the AIR splitter
6. I had to use a washer wider than the hole I drilled so a screw could be used. I taped down the washer behind the small lip (shown in picture) so it would be an easier install.
7. I gained a lot of strength by securing the sides of the AIR splitter (pictures detail what I did):
I used about 7 screws and washers. I made the holes with a Dremmel cutter wheel and drill bits.
It is a lot easier to install with the bumper off the car. I decided to leave the bumper on the car.

My car is on stock suspension and I have scrapped the bottom a few times taking dips and bumps on the road too quickly. If your car is lowered, i'd by two. The item is made out of fiberglass and will break if your not careful.

I used a few large fender washers to help back the holes. If you grind down the edge of the fender washer so it'll fit up under the lip, you can get a lot more contact with the splitter to help hold it. I used either M8 or M10 bolts and nuts to secure mine as well. It's held up fine on the track and against the local wildlife (racoon and opposum).

Nice writeup. I wish I could get one as I think they really make the car look just right, but there's no way I could on my one, lowered as it is. I have to use wooden blocks on the floor of my mechanic's driveway just to get in to the workshop. I wish there was some alternative...

Looks good ballistic. I broke mine last night. I'm going to have to re-glass the broken area and reinstall. What a PITA!

It would be nice if someone made a good urethane or rubber version of this lip that still duplicates the under pan of the batwing. It seems most everyone who has one has broken it at least once. Even a lip that mounted between the fascia and contoured down into the fascia would be an improvement. I try to avoid fiberglass on anything close to the ground and especially in the front.

reno808 - no, I had someone local paint it.
KuHL 951 - Very true, these will break if your not careful. But, have you seen a 951 with the splitter installed? They look fantastic on our cars. And since your car is black, you could buy some Flat-black spray cans from kragen and spray it yourself. Just stick to the highways and you'll be fine

No argument there, they do look great...it's just every driveway, soda can, and speedbump they seem drawn to that has me wishing for a flexible version. It's amazing all those fugly **** wings and sushi spoilers are readily available in urethane but our 951 lips are always fiberglass
