Default Windshield fluid tank removal? Now engine rebuild

While doing some cleanup work on the 951 I decided to ditch the washer fluid tank. I have the oil cooler and PS cooler out. The tank is loose (all bolts out) but I can't seem to get it out the top or bottom. Do the headlights have to be up or something? Such a simple thing is such a PIA but that's normal when you own one of these cars How's that for a oldtimer newbie question?

OK thanks..1 out the top, 1 out the bottom...do I hear a 'pull' the car off from around the tank? It seems to be catching on something right where it necks down in the middle. I think I'll try the 'apply brute force' method

I ended up cutting one of the tabs off after fighting with it (both up and down) for a little over an hour. I epoxied it back on in case I ever decide to go back.

I got it out the bottom, had to loosen a few things but it came out relatively easy.

Cool, I'm glad to see I'm not the only 'challenged' one here. I'm not even going to reinstall it but someone might want it. My catchcan is going in that spot and possibly a larger oil cooler. I don't think I have ever used the washer in over 3 years so I won't miss it at all.

'Challenged', that about sums up my work on my 951

One of these days it'll get easy...I hope...

I'd be interested in the tank, if the price is right.

I also remember it being a total pita on my NA, unfortunately I think my mind blocked that whole hour from memory as I have no clue what I did.

Out the bottom. That tab is what is holding it in ,and not allowing it to come out the top. I've been there done that. Had the some issue!

i pulled mine while the oil cooler was off, and the nose was off- and it still sucked. Out the bottom.

Out the bottom about a week ago. Cut off some of the lower tabs as well. Total PITA like so many things. Attempted cutting it in half, but that thing is stout! Best part was throwing it in the trash.
