I used to own an Opel!! parts for that gotta be harder to find and more $$$$ than Pcar. I fail to see the point in this, unlike what I saw at The Mitty at Road Atlanta 3 weeks ago. Original Mini's with Honda 2.0 V tech running gear, a TR4 w/a BMW 325i engine, and numerous MG's with various American V8's in them. All vast improvements. There was one guy there w/ a Boxter that supposedly had a 3.8 Cayman S engine in it. At least that was what was plastered all over it.

Wrong I know, but still over 250hp with less weight. But as I say unforgivable!
They put those engines in single seater racing cars in Eurpe and call it formula Vauxhall (Vauxhall/Opel is the Euro brand of General Motors for those of you stateside who have never heard of either!)

Don't see the problem....its an engine conversion that is actually quite cool...

1) As we know engines make power in their heads and this Twin Cam 16V head will breathe incredibly it probably even have Variable valve timing on the intake and exhaust cam.

2) Probably at least a 2.0L displacement so it probably is putting out a solid 180hp stock.

3) Ripe for a turbo conversion...then look out

4) Possible aluminum block so balance would be perfect, if not improved.

5) Parts availability and cheap too as this is in Europe.

I suppose this engine is out of Opel Calibra 4wd Turbo. The only connection to Porsche is the fact those Opel Calibras were built at the same factory in Finland where nowadays 90% of Boxters and Caymans are built...

Trying to talk sense to anyone in this section of the forum is like beating a dead horse. I understand that some people prefer the purist side of things but, from a performance standpoint many times it's a wise choice to simply start with a better motor. Opel is an odd choice though. I would have chosen something with a bit more aftermarket support.

Just like fast and furious 3 when they took out the engine from the 70's mustage and out in that skyline engine.
