I am currently using Amsoil 20W50 and it costs me almost $10 a quart. I am now going to be using my car as a daily driver, putting 40 miles roundtrip to my new office, 200 miles a week, therefore I will be using about a quart of oil a week, what's the best oil for the cheapest price?

No joke - do a search for threads by Doug Hillary on the topic. Some diesel supply shops sell it by the gallon much cheaper than Mobile 1.

ive not used valvoline- when my father used to race offroad vw's he said valvoline would leave deposits and such in the engine after being run hard, but castrol was alway nice and clean and would hold viscosity much better. I personally dont like synthetics and they are expensive.

Mobil 1 leaks like most synthetics and it's expensive. I have used 20-50 castrol for a couple of years and see no sludge. I am thinking about moving to 20-50 valvoline because it is a little better refined than castrol.

So i switched to castrol and i havent looked back ever since. I use 20-50 i also leaked allot less and cunsumed allot less. BTW if your car consumes all of that oil then there must be somthing wrong . My car has a leak and i only have to put a quart like every 1350 mi or so.

He was the one who recommended the VR1 to me a while ago.
A search would show up a lot of threads on this topic, but it is a good topic to continue to revisit as the industry changes.

I think it is from blow by or something, coming out of the oil pan or rear main seal. I have to put in 2/10's of a quart everytime I take her out to keep her full, it smokes underneath when I floor it, but when I take it easy it leaks less.

My street 951 gets Valvoline VR1 20w50 dino oil. I have some oil leaks (drip on the crossover pipe) so I don't want to risk sythetics, but once I fix the leaks it will get probably mobil 1. I will not use the Series 2000 stuff unless it becomes a dedicated track car.
