So im a douche and broke my cam housing... yeah, physically feel that all the bolts are out guys... your eyes can deceive you...
I have a spare cam + housing... its off a 1984 944 (naturally aspirated of course...)
will the housing work with the 86 951? If that works, what about the cam? I plan on taking it apart anyways... but... anyone know?
Thanks! :-)

Oh, i forgot to toss this in...
The old cam came off an engine that seized due to lack of lubrication (ran out of oil)
Im taking the cam housing apart, will inspect and maybe replace the bearrings before i install the turbo cam.
Thanks for the input guys! :-)

Another quick question for whoever looks at this thread...
Is a 1988 turbo S cam the same as the 1986 Cam? I found one on ebay... i'd rather go with something that has a definant quality rather than the one i have that came off a seized engine and also sat outside for a month or so (endured some rain, never thought i'd break this part...)

cam tower broke because i thought i had removed all the bolts... i looked and didnt see any... i need thicker glasses.. i missed one... a friend of mine was prying on it... i said screw it and told him to get it off and.... well it came off.
Thats how it broke.
I think i'll just buy a new cam tower... just need to know what will work!

Yeah, the oil-starved cam and housing is prob. a bad idea. Anytime an engine is run w/out oil, you have to figure all the bearing areas have a strong potential to be gauled and therefore useless.
Yes all turbo cams are the same year to year as well as = to early NA cams. Same part #.

928 cam housing has the wrong numbers stamped on the top ![Wink](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
Seriously though, skip on the rained-on cam with no oil. That is asking for trouble down the road.
I have to pull my cam tower soon, and I plan to replace a couple of collapsed lifters while I'm in there.
Cam towers with cams are cheap as mentioned above, less than $50 should get you back in business.
Early NA cams are the same as turbo cams, late NA cams have more exhaust lift (or is it duration?).
I put a late NA cam into my 951 hoping to cut down my spool-up time some, but my headers are cracked so badly it is impossible to tell. Certainly no worse for the wear though
