OK, But what about the women ! Maybe we should ask Lance about the French

When in C.R. i drove a new renault , Clio Sport 6 spd , really nice little car , a pity we do not get them here as the new Alpha's and renaults are much nicer than the current rice boxes and golfs we get here.... the Clio is pure fun..

Sex change op... you mean going back to being a guy?

For power, the japs have it all over the Euro stuff for the most part, cheap to mod as well... but I drove my mates Audi S3 last night, drool (1.8 turbo 225BHP standard). Awesome wee car. I want another Euro dailydriver now

I'll hand you the cheap to mod ticket, no doubt about that....but then my car is more than just a disposable ride. Also, I can sell my car tomorrow for every dime I have in it today. Why? Because the typical porsche fan is not scraping his last quarters together to buy a car and the modifications we put in are not cheap...meaning they typically last, unlike some of the cheap Japanese mods. Also, the typical ricer racer is low to mid 20's so what he spends on the car is less and the engineering behind those parts can be lacking.

Can you typically recover your money from a fairly heavily modified ricer? Maybe you can, I admit I know nothing about the rice market....other than they don't blow my skirt up. Big numbers are there to be had on a dyno, of that I have no doubt...but I've seen many of them at the track....and never had one pass, come close to passing, or even think about passing me. The only one that has ever made my eyebrows go up a little was on Sebring with Chin Motorsports. A heavily modified Honda that the owner claimed 600hp on the dyno. He was quick down the straights (though no quicker than me), couldn't corner for shizzle (speaking in ricer speak), and 2 sessions into the weekend...it grenaded in a very spectacular way. Cheap to mod...cheap to replace the motor...not so cheap when you have to do so far more often than I will.

Dollar for Dollar....I would buy my car again and do exactly the same mods to it. I couldn't be happier with the performance per $$. Cheaper than racing motorcycles, far cheaper than two strokes. Try to keep brakes, suspension, etc on the track for a car not meant for the track. Maybe I have my head in the sand, but I find it hard...very hard to believe we are on the wrong end of the cost spectrum when it comes to track car performance per dollar. Street rod, teenage 15 second at a time wide open runs...perhaps. Wide open lap after lap...the ricers ... just .... don't .... hang.

IMHO of course.

Check out the JGTC race series and tell me about ricers on the track vs the Euro cars

I think your comment about Porsche drivers not scrapping these last few quarters is mostly true for new Porsches, the second hand market (especially the 944 turbo market these days), is the low-mid 20's owner range capable all day long. The engineering going into the Jap parts is MILES ahead of the 944 turbo part market. Look up Apexi, HKS, Greddy, JUN, Mugen, Skunk, Top Secret, etc... their parts specific for Japs leave the rest for dead.
