EDIT: Yeah, sorry, I forgot to explain this rear disc offset-issue. When using bigger than original disc ( ie GT3 330x28 mm ) and GT3 ( or similar ) monoblock caliper at rear, you have to somehow cope with different disc offset, if you want to use original handbrake. If you have early offset car there is no problem, disc is bolt-on with the handbrake mechanism. With late model cars there's 25mm air between the disc and handbrake shoes...

OK, whats the circular adapter for
For handbrake shoes.

If you have old ET car GT3 rear disk will align with handbrake shoes just fine; but with new ET you must move handbrake shoes outwards.

I am not done with it so it would be hard for me to determine final costs. I am sure others that have done so would be able to answer that.
Last I saw, someone quoted $3500 or so.

Great thread and info. Raj: did you finish your conversion? What rotors did you end up using? Where did you get the adapters for the calipers?

Thanks in advance.

Doug Arnao @ VCI Makes this set up, You can see it on Roy Chougs Old 944 race car on his site. He also has about every adapter you could think for brake parts. Man knows his stuff!! Just look at some of the cars his customer cars.

How much for the adapters only?

Is the bolt spacing on the 6 piston calipers the same as the 993TT (M030 951S) spacing?

No, it's totally different. Also 997 6-pots have different spacing than 996 ones.

Adapters are available at roughly $750 IIRC, and Olli beat me to the second question..

Ok, after doing a bit of additional research and getting all the bits together here is what is going on the front end next month. My spindles/hubs are from an '87 951 (my car is an '86). The calipers are from a 996 GT3. The rotors are from any Cayenne or Q7 that use the 350mm discs. Doug @ VCI is getting a caliper and a rotor to make the adapter. So the good news is he will have these adapters ready for anyone who comes after. The adapters that he used on Roy Chung's car are slightly different, and the rotors are spendy. Cayenne rotors are generally $70 to $80 each.

The adapters won't be here for a week so the conversion review will have to wait until I head to VIR in the end of May with FSR.

GT3 Rotor Specs on the left, Cayenne/Q7 on the right.

Great progress Marc. Cayenne rotor is a very cost effective way to go. I suppose some day we will say Cayenne 6-pots converted under 951 S models, that's the easiest caliper install.
