6 Piston GT2/GT3 calipers are here!!
Recieved my calipers, man are they HUGE!!
Waiting for rotors/pads so I can do a test fit them on the speedlines. It might be a close fit. I measured the speedlines on the inner half and I have approx 16.5 inches diameter accounting for wheels weights on 2 seperate sides of the halves. I also measured the width on the calipers and they are approx 1/2 inch wide where the rotor would be. I figure if I add another 1/4 inch of clearance between rotor and caliper for a 350mm rotor, I get the following:
13.77 inch rotor
.5 inch clearance between rotor and caliper
1 inch thickness adding both sides of caliper opening
Total 15.27 inches minimum.
This should give me barely enough to clear the wheel inners. I cannot give up on my Speedlines. It only took 3 yrs to find a set so if they don't work I will put the brake setup up for sale.
This will also require custom adapters. I think I need to switch back to non M030 spindles because it would be much easier getting billets that mount to standard adapters on the axial side and to the calipers on the radial side. I will keep you guys posted and post some pics once the rotors are here. If this works, I will also switch to monoblock rears.
Let me know what you guys think.
Regards.

I'm just going through this myself. I'm going with GT3 6 piston Cup car calipers fr/rr. The cup car steel rotors work all around for these. Are yours PCCB calipers? If so, the cup car rear rotor won't bolt up but the front will. To my knowledge, the front steel rotors from the 996GT2, GT3 and GT3 Cup all share bolt spacing and disk offset. I'm told companies like Performance Friction and AP brakes make replacement rotors but I've had trouble locating specific information. If you find anything like a two piece slotted rotor for the front let me know.
What do you plan to do for a rear parking brake? The stock configuration won't work.
A fellow 'lister is lining up the adapters for me, and yes the Non-S spindles are pretty much the only way you can go, as the bolt spacing for the M030 spindles is less than 8mm off from the bolt spacing on the 6 piston calipers. Adapters would be difficult and even more expensive to make.

Paul, let me know how things work out with the adapters. If anything, I would be interested in a set for myself. No need to reinvent the wheel as they say.
I plan to swap to monobloc rears and use a brake proportioning valve to offset the adding braking.
The setup is the steel type, not PCCB. I have just started my research but I will speak to my resources on the 2 piece floating rotors.
Thanks for the info.

Good luck with this Raj and yes photo's. There is still much divided opinion on an upgrade like this. When is big too big sort of thing, plus all the added weight, but we're all interested in your progress. I'm sure some of the Euro guys that have done this conversion will help out or pipe in.

The 996 era monoblock brake calipers are actually lighter in weight than the 993 TT big reds. Obviously, the larger rotors would make up that difference, but the overall weight delta is not much. Raj, if you haven't, also do a search on pete95zhn's posts, he has some very good information on this swap, complete with the cup car rotor part numbers. Olli Snellman is also an excellent resource here, he graciously agreed to help in tracking down the adapters for me.

Thingo, I haven't given gthe rears much thought yet.
Paul, i will try to reach out to those guys and see if they can help me.
I will get some pictures shortly. Its only 20 degrees out there .

A good source for aftermarket 2-piece GT3R 350mm rotors. The AP Racing rotors, Alcon, and Performance Friction are all above $1000/each. There is a guy in the classifieds selling some GT3R rotors for $1000.

1) Hydraulic handbrake
2) Adapter for second caliper, like Carrera GT
3) Adapter for original mechanism. See the picture, but mainly it's an image of original arm's end, 25mm deep. Two piece one, if you don't remove the hub, otherwise one piece. It needs only crafted part more, namely that swingarm that attaches to the handbrake cable. It must to be a bit longer.
Fourth of course is " Ditch the b..... "
Then you'll need adapter for the caliper. I'll be back with that later!
